Interoperability• BIBBs (BACnet Interoperability Building Blocks
represent individual function blocks for data exchange between interoperable devices. BIBBs always come in pairs (A) user/client & (B) server, except…………
• There are 5 catagories for BIBBs:
- Data Sharing (DS)– Read/Write property, COV- Alarms and Event Management (AE)– notification,
acknowledgement, information, life safety alarm
- Scheduling (SCHED)– internal/external- Trending (T)– viewing/modifying trends, retrieval- Device and Network Management (DM, NM) – router
confguration, device object binding, time Synchronisation, backup/restore, object creation/deletion
- Virtual Terminal Management (VT)- BACnet International Product Catalog

•Data sharing makes it possible for BACnet devices to exchange information. Interoperability allows data collection of reports, values between devices, change of set points etc. In Data sharing a client device initiates a request for data from a server device and the server executes the request.
-
•Alarms and Event Management are pre-defined conditions that meet specific criteria that could result in an alarm such asChange of state
Change of value
Command failure

• Scheduling allows adding and editing ofschedules so that control can be coordinated based
on dates and times.
-
•Trending enables trend collection and request trend data between devices.
• Device and Network Management allows BACnet devices to discover other BACnet devices, discover objects within devices, establish and re-establish communication, synchronize time, and re-initialize a devices program.
