The Information Engine

The new Information Engine is a BOE service available for all client tools

In 4.0, it will provide services to build the query and will be used by Web Intelligence, Crystal

Reports, Dashboard Design (Xcelsius), BusinessObjects Explorer

into two separate entities at authoring

The Business Layer represents the metadata that

is exposed to the end users through the query

panel in different client tools

A relational Business Layer is always based on one

Data Foundation

A relational Business Layer can be based on a

multisource Data Foundation. Multisource capabilities

are implemented in the Data Foundation

Data Security Profiles can be defined for relational

universes

Data Security Profiles are the equivalent of classic

universe access restrictions

Connection Data Security Profile

Replaces a connection by another one

In case of multi-source universe, each connection can be

independently replaced.
