A greater understanding is required about the behaviour of our digital audience to keep abreast of business strategy, and leverage this knowledge to measure performance, and evaluate the effectiveness of digital developments and initiatives. The need to create data-driven strategic intelligence about their customers and their user behaviour will help create new insightful commercial audience and platform solutions. You will work across Technology, an industry-leading Customer Analytics & Research and the awarding winning Commercial Strategy & Insight team who both help steer the Digital strategy. You will be responsible for all our BI technology, platforms and solutions. You will help pioneer new BI products and tools help further support business transformation. The role is be recognised as the BI technology authority. With board-level support for Business Intelligence and the value the data, this role will involve influencing commercial and strategy at all levels across the business. Main Duties and Responsibilities Helping define, implement and sustain a technology data strategy to support business intelligence, customer insight, and analytics and data products. Implement an in-progress migration from our existing DWH platform to AWS Redshift platform Architect BI solutions to support the BI roadmap. Support developments throughout the whole development lifecycle (requirement, development, testing and rollout) Bring technical thought leadership to the BI team. Mentor members of team. Peer review developments. Work across the organisation to advocate the value of data, data governance and how business intelligence drives value. Work across other programs of work to ensure dependencies are managed. Work across technology to ensure BI solutions are fully integrated (networking, security, ops) Work closely with the Analytics department to ensure our solutions enable self-serve BI and related functions. Keep up-to-date with new technical and business developments to understand how they may impact user experience and behaviour. Translate business questions, design and conduct analysis, develop findings and synthesise recommendations to deliver valuable, relevant, and actionable insight. Able to define and recognise ‘done’ and ‘good enough’

When and where necessary, can become an effective (hands-on) part of the BI development team. Share and present findings with business stakeholders. Communicate and collaborate with business stakeholders across the business on a range of issues. Supporting business users in making effective use of data, integrating data into the decision-making process.

Preferable Skills Some analytical capability and the ability to interpret data and transform into meaningful conclusions and business recommendations. Understanding and practical experience of supporting Marketing or CRM initiatives through the exploitation of data. Experience of subscription based business models. An understanding of MDM or Data Quality or Data Mining or learning techniques Familiarity with SQL and the ability to analyse and combine large data sets using tools such as SAS, SQL Server or SPSS. Use of web analytics tools such as sales funnel analysis, capturing custom data and segmentation. Understanding of HTML/Javascript. Provide technical thought leadership and subject matter expertise in data and BI Knowledge in modelling relational datasets Knowledge in multi-dimensional modelling, other data structures (NOSL) graph, hierarchical, etc.) Understanding the principles and value of strong data visualisation/data lineage. Can translate technical concepts into business/commercial recommendations. A consultative approach and ability to decipher hidden user needs. Looks to contribute new ideas and improvements to existing solutions and processes. Excellent organisational skills, with experience managing multiple competing workstreams.

Skills SQL (Postgres preferred) Microsoft B Python SQL Data Warehouse/ODS Architecture (Kimball / Inmon / Data Vault) Experience in writing MDX queries Use of ETL tools (e.g. Talend, Informatica) Scripting languages (Python preferred) AWS/EC2 understandingRedshift Agile environment Experience of visualisation tools Use of monitoring and logging tools (like Nagios, Splunk)
