    HISTORY

    On 24 January 1976, the Burmah Shell was

    taken over by the Government of India to

    form Bharat Refineries Limited. On 1August 1977, it was renamed Bharat

    Petroleum Corporation Limited. It was also

    the first refinery to process newly foundindigenous crude Bombay High

    OPERATIONS Bharat Petroleum owns refineries

    at Mumbai and Kochi (Kochi Refineries) with acapacity of 12and 9.5 million metric tonnesper year respectively.

    Its subsidiary at Numaligarh has a capacity of3 million metric tonnes per year.

    . On 25 May 2011, the Bina Refinery

    in Madhya Pradesh with a capacity of 6 millionmetric tonnes per year was commissioned.
