An electrical insulator is a material whose internalelectric charges do not flow freely, and which thereforedoes not conduct an electric current , under theinfluence of an electric field . A perfect insulator doesnot exist, but some materials such as glass, paper andTeflon , which have high resistivity, are very goodelectrical insulators

1.CHEMICAL LABIn this lab chemist checks the chemical composition of insulatorin every hour by using chemical reactions.

    A. The lab has standard specimen of insulator , coal, lime stoneand other useful raw and manufactured insulator .

    B. These specimen are used to compare the manufactured raw.

2.ONLINE LAB.It uses three types of analyzer.

    A. X-RAY MACHINE.B. COMPUTER APPLICATION.

In this room the engineer monitors the processand devices.

For monitoring they uses four cctv camera andeight computer.

These computers are connected with DCS.

    Temperature Measurement

  • 7/30/2019 Bhanwar Lal 2007 (2)

    17/29

RTDs are manufactured from metals whose resistanceincreases with temperature:

    RT = RO[1+a(t-to)]

    Where,

Rt = Resistance at temperature t

Ro= Resistance at standard temperature t = temperature coefficient

A thermocouple circuit is formed when twodissimilar metals are joined at both ends.Thomas Seebeck

The KILNSCAN infraredline scanner is used forrotary kiln shell

temperature monitoring. This system enables toprevent risks of hot spotformation on the shell, to

early detect refractory brickfall, to determine coatingthickness and to evaluatethe kiln thermal warpamplitude

    SPEED MEASUREMENT

    Tacho-generator Tachometer

  • 7/30/2019 Bhanwar Lal 2007 (2)

    26/29

Tacho-generatortachometer is connected to the machinewhose speed is to be measured. Whenarmature revolves in the field ofpermanent magnet emf proportional tothe speed is generated. This can bemeasured directly or after suitable

conversions to find the speed of themachine.

    Tacho-meter

Its a digital form of tacho-generator. It gives reading in digitand also measure the speed.

    HPM (High Performance Manager)

It uses powerful multiprocessor dedicated to perform

specific tasks. It consists of HPMM & I/0 sub-system. Redundant HPMM card files.

HPMM consists of communication processor and modem,I/0 link interface processor and control processor.

    Filed termination assembly.

The I/0 sub-system consists of redundant I/0 link and theI/0 processor. These I/0 processors handle all fields I/0 forboth data acquisition and control functions.

    Power system.
