SUBJECT INFORMATION

Goals :
To provide the knowledge and understanding of reinforced concrete
structures design and basic exposure to retaining wall concrete structures
according to the relevant code of practice.
Learning Outcomes :
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1.Design the reinforced concrete structure elements according to BS 8110 /
BS EN 1992 (EC2).
2.Manipulate structural design processes to complete the assigned project.
3.Report design works which comprise of ideas and problem solving through
suitable tools or methods.

Synopsis :
This course is continuation from BFC 34702 (Structure Design) and
mainly focuses on reinforced concrete design.
This course introduces students to the of reinforced concrete
structures design according to the relevant code of practices.
Scope of study includes slab design, staircase design, analysis of
frame structure, column design, footing design and retaining wall.

1) Students must attend lectures not less than 80% of the contact hours for every
subject including Compulsory Attendance Subjects (HW) and Attendance Only
Subjects (HS).
2) Students who do not fulfill (1) will not be allowed to attend further lectures and sit
for any further examination. Zero mark (0) will be given to students who fail to
comply with (1). While for Compulsory Attendance Subjects (HW), those who fail to
comply with (1) will be given Failure Attendance (HG).
3) Students must obey all rules and regulations of the university and must discipline
themselves in order to avoid any disciplinary actions against them.
4) Student must obey safety regulations during learning and teaching process.
