BETWEEN THE LANES NEWSLETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT November, 2015 Spring Issue Firstly, I'd like to extend a very warm WELCOME to all our new club members - whether you've joined us as a first time social member or full member, or transferred in from other clubs. It's lovely to see so many new faces around the pool. Secondly, a big WELCOME to the Committee newcomers. And to those that have come back for another season, THANK YOU SO MUCH for giving it another go with me. I am so glad to be working with you all, and I am really excited about the year ahead. The Long Course Season has well and truly kicked off with a BANG for our Club. We already have a team of four travelling to Mooloolaba in 2016 for the Australian Age 5kms Open Water Swimming Championships, and we hope to add at least another one, or maybe even two, swimmers to that team by the end of the year. We have also had many already qualify for the Metropolitan and State Age Championships. There have been loads of great results since the start of the new season from all the solid training that the swimmers are doing under our wonderfully talented coaching staff. We look forward to seeing many more qualifying times, medals and PB's throughout the season. Keep up the hard work, kids. Keep doing what you love doing, but most importantly, don't forget to have fun. The Bowling & Skirmish Social Night was a lot of fun, so don't miss out on our next big Social Event - the BCSC Christmas Party. Stay tuned for your invitations coming soon. Our Qualifying Meet last month was a huge success, and no doubt, our 2016 Twilight Meet will be as well. Entries are now open. All members, both Competitive and Social, are expected to attend and enter this meet. We also ask all families to assist in the running of the carnival in some way, whether it be with timekeeping, selling raffle tickets, running the BBQ, or assisting the Technical Officials. We need an announcer, a runner, and someone to hand out medals. Everyone needs to do their bit - ™many hands make light work”. Lastly, I would like to wish all the swimmers that are competing at various upcoming swim meets, all the very best. I cannot wait to see our success continue, both in the pool and open water. The confidence and friendships continue to build amongst our swimmers, and that is the best result of all. Go Blacktown! Firstly, I'd like to extend a very warm WELCOME to all our new club members - whether you've joined us as a first time social member or full

member, or transferred in from other clubs. It's lovely to see so many new faces around the pool.

Secondly, a big WELCOME to the Committee newcomers. And to those that have come back for another season, THANK YOU SO MUCH for

giving it another go with me. I am so glad to be working with you all, and I am really excited about the year ahead.

The Long Course Season has well and truly kicked off with a BANG for our Club. We already have a team of four travelling to Mooloolaba

in 2016 for the Australian Age 5kms Open Water Swimming Championships, and we hope to add at least another one, or maybe even two,

swimmers to that team by the end of the year. We have also had many already qualify for the Metropolitan and State Age Championships.

There have been loads of great results since the start of the new season from all the solid training that the swimmers are doing under our

wonderfully talented coaching staff. We look forward to seeing many more qualifying times, medals and PB's throughout the season. Keep

up the hard work, kids. Keep doing what you love doing, but most importantly, don't forget to have fun.

The Bowling & Skirmish Social Night was a lot of fun, so don't miss out on our next big Social Event - the BCSC Christmas Party. Stay tuned

for your invitations coming soon.

Our Qualifying Meet last month was a huge success, and no doubt, our 2016 Twilight Meet will be as well. Entries are now open. All members,

both Competitive and Social, are expected to attend and enter this meet. We also ask all families to assist in the running of the carnival in

some way, whether it be with timekeeping, selling raffle tickets, running the BBQ, or assisting the Technical Officials. We need an announcer,

a runner, and someone to hand out medals. Everyone needs to do their bit - ™many hands make light workº.

Lastly, I would like to wish all the swimmers that are competing at various upcoming swim meets, all the very best. I cannot wait to see our

success continue, both in the pool and open water. The confidence and friendships continue to build amongst our swimmers, and that is the

best result of all.

On Friday 30th October, Race Night was Halloween theme. Many kids and adults dressed up for the occasion and we took plenty of photos. Best dressed for the Adult category by far was out Technical Official Karen Walsh with her fabulous look of C̀hucky' the doll.

We had witches, fairies, monsters, morphs, little devils, the list goes on. The desk was spooky and there was lollies and punch with eyeballs to go around.

We had a great night. Only a few photos are up. To see all the fantastic photos you will have to purchase our BC 2016 Calendar and view the Halloween page for the month of October which will be on sale at our Christmas party on the 18 December.

RAFFLES AND DONATIONS

Raffle Prizes Thank you to Kirsty Mooy and Officeworks, Bronwyn Clancy, Sam Galea and Belinda Havron who have kindly donated gifts to be used as weekly raffle prizes on Friday Club Nights. All the funds raised go towards the weekly hire of the pool, staff wages, insurances and the day to day operating expenses that BCSC incur. Without the kind and generous donations we receive and also without the support that all our members give by purchasing raffle tickets we would not be able to continue.

Christmas Raffle With our Xmas party coming up on the 18 December, it's time for families to start donating prizes for our big Xmas raffle.

If each family could donate a little something for the raffle whether it be movie tickets, vouchers, hampers, toys, books or movies every little gift would be much appreciated.

You can bring in your donations and leave with the ladies at the squad desk during the week or at Friday race nights.

Remember the more prizes the bigger the chance of winning!

This is a fantastic fundraising program where all purchases

over $50 entitle Blacktown City Swimming Club Inc. to a

$1 voucher. This is increased for each multiple of $50 spent.

So, we hear you asking what do I need to do if I shop at the Good Guys at Prospect….

1. The most important part of this program is that you MUST mention the “Skool is Kool” program when you are making your payment. Unfortunately once a payment has been finalised the Good Guys cannot issue the club with any vouchers.

2. Simply ask for the clubs name printed on your docket along with your details so the “Skool is Kool” vouchers can be issued to Blacktown City Swimming Club Inc.
