SOcafé at Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club
s
Dear Members,
Please note the SoCafé will be closed to members on the
Wednesday night of the 21st of October due to an all-day
function in the hall.
Over my 22 years of involvement within the Surf Life Saving
movement and a member of the Sorrento SLSC there have
been ongoing challenges in retaining our Youth member
base as they transition from Nipper to the Senior category.
There have been many studies conducted as to why the
retention has been difficult across the whole Surf Life Saving
movement, but remains a continual challenge for all clubs.
Our BOM is extremely appreciative of the efforts by a
dedicated group of members that are striving to defy this
trend.
The current YIP’s program conducted by Nicole Dhue, Debbie
Vickery, former board member Ron Clarke, “Watto” (our
current Club Development Director) and many other
dedicated members is proving to be a wonderful success
and platform for our Youth members.
Include Gavin, Anthony, Kate, Adrian and the team that co-
ordinate’s our now Junior Youth program your BOM are
extremely confident that Sorrento SLSC will be shown to be a
leader in this difficult area.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated by your Board of
Management
team.
A club as one is a
club of strength!

JUNIOR & ADULT SWIM TRAINING
Sorrento SLSC encourages all of our Junior Members to get involved in swimming and runs programs for
Junior, developing and adult fitness swimmers:
The club offers training with accredited coaches (H2O Fitness Academy) to provide swimming training as an
additional service to its members and a greatly reduced cost (in comparison to similar programs).
It aims to enable members to improve their swimming skills, stay fit and support lifesaving and competition
requirements.
3 sessions per week are on offer- Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday Afternoons.

Attention Members: The So café will be closed to members on the Wednesday night of the 21st of October.
A Board decision was made to allow a big all day function to take place on this date by Coca Cola. We
apologise to our so café faithfuls and all other members who may have wanted to pop in for a meal and a
drink, and promise you this will not be a something we plan to make a habit of. So café will be open for
business this Friday and all Fridays from now on for dinner! And on the horizon bigger and better menu
choices. Come on in this Friday night and give mum a good start to the weekend – a night off in the
kitchen. Remember also so cafe is open for breakfast and coffee on Saturday from 7.30 – 9.30am and prior
to the bar opening on Sunday mornings. Hot chips and ice creams will keep the nippers happy for a
while after a big morning on the beach.
Bogan Bingo is returning Friday 30th of October, after a sell-out performance last year, and rave
reviews. The Bogans will be back with their action packed interactive show, what better way to
kick off the Surf Season.
So rev up the Holden, it’s time to comb out the mullets, roll up the flanno shirt sleeves, and let
that inner Bogan run amuck. C’arn, Bring it oon!!!!
