Background The Betty S Cameron Award was established in 1986 in recognition of the contribution made to the Association by Betty S Cameron. In 1972 the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists Victoria decided to honour Betty S Cameron by appointing her its first Honorary Life Member.

Miss Cameron was a foundation member of the AAOT Victoria Division and in 1967 was elected as the first occupational therapist President of the Association. Miss Cameron remained President until 1971. She later became President of the AAOT. Miss Cameron died in June 1992.

Frequency The Award is available on an annual basis.

Eligibility • The nominee must be an occupational therapist and a well-respected member of the Victoria division at

the time of nomination and when the award is presented.

• The nominee shall have demonstrated exceptional contribution in one or more of the following categories:

o A leader in an identified area of concern or development of the Victoria Division

o Development of a new aspect or service on behalf of the Victoria division

o Expansion of an aspect or established service of the Victoria division

o Development of new initiatives that enhance the provision of Victoria Division services

Selection Criteria Nominations are accepted from any member of Occupational Therapy Australia Victoria Division. A nominator and seconder should complete and submit the nomination form no later than 4:00pm on the first Friday of March. All nominations should contain reasons for the nomination and should be lodged as directed on the nomination form.

Selection Panel A selection panel will be established, comprising one current member of the Divisional Council, one past president and one Betty S Cameron Award recipient. The panel will review the nominations against the key selection criteria. If required, an interview will be arranged with the nominator. The panel will make recommendation to the Divisional Council for ratification.

The Award • The award shall consist of a framed certificate and a cheque for $1,500

• The award will be presented at an event decided by Occupational Therapy Australia

Conditions of the Award • The Grant is to be used within a two-year period

• Reporting is required every 6months, schedule to be agreed between both parties
