Amicogen Inc. is one of leading venture companies in Korea which EASY BIO System invested also. The company dedicated herself to development, production, and sales of special biocatalysts such as en-zyme-based new functional materials, pinitol/D-chiro-inositol, chitin/chitosan hydrolyzates, fish col-lagen petide and specialty enzymes etc at Korean FDA-approved GMP facilities for the production of functional health foods.

Easys Bioferm is a joint venture company with GNC Bioferm of Canada, established to provide different kinds of carbohydrase targeting for NSPs in raw materials of animal feed. GNC Bioferm was established by Dr. Leigh Campbell and Dr. Jan GrootWassink who are very expert in enzyme research area. The en-zyme developed and produced by GNC Bioferm was registered as the first NSPs enzyme in EU also. ENDO-POWER βENDO-POWER β is an NSP (Non-Starch Polysaccharides) enzyme complex developed and manufactured by Easys Bioferm located in Canada, a joint venture company between EASY BIO System and GNC Bioferm. ENDO-POWER β contains high enzymatic activities of alpha-galactosidase, galactomannanase, xylanase and beta-glucanase. It is produced from a single organism, Aspergillus niger, using traditional (non-genetically modifi ed organisms) microbial selection methods. The unique process of fermentation and selection leads to production of ancillary enzymes (such as amylase, phytase, cellulase, and protease) that assist in the breakdown of non-starch polysac-charides often found in commonly used feed ingredients.

ENDO-POWER β provides a source of multiple carbohydrase enzymes directed at improving the digestibility and availability of non-starch polysaccharides. These NSP compounds make up a major portion of grains and are an integral part of the cell walls of grains and plants. The digestive tract of swine, poultry, and fi sh do not secrete the enzymes necessary to utilize non-starch polysaccharides. With the help of exogenous (feed) enzymes, the NSP compounds can be further hydrolyzed to provide these animals with a signifi cant source of useable energy.

The enzymatic activity of ENDO-POWER β was designed to digest both cell wall NSPs and non-cell wall NSPs. This off ers greater diet fl exibility because it can be used on a wide variety of substrates. ENDO-POWER β specifi cally helps to degrade the xylans, beta-glucans, and alpha-galactosides that are found within cell wall. These indigest-ible compounds are often coupled with mannans and galactomannans found primarily within the plant cell fur-ther increasing in digestibility of nutrients. The net result of ENDO-POWER β‘s activity is the additional release of energy and other nutrients that otherwise would not be available to the animal. The above table provides an overview of the NSP contents and relative digestibility of non-starch polysaccharides found in some of the most commonly used feed ingredients provided in monogastric diets.

ENDO-POWER β has been evaluated in numerous research studies conducted by universities and research insti-tutions using pigs, broilers, layers, and aquatic species. Results from research studies with ENDO-POWER β has demonstrated improved growth performance, increased NSP digsestibility, and reduced small intestine villus degradation in nursery pigs.

Enhancing the availability of nutrients enables the animal to utilize and absorb more energy and ami-no acids from the diet. A study designed to measure the ileal digestibility of nutrients in diets with and without ENDO-POWER β, demonstrated ENDO-POWERβ‘s efficacy. Pigs in this study were fed similar diets: one group received diets containing 0.02% ENDO-POWER β while the other group served as the control group. Villi from sections of the small intestine were collected and measured from both groups of pigs. The photo on the left shows blunted, damaged villi obtained from an animal fed the control diet without ENDO-POWER β, while the photo on the right shows normal villi from an animal fed the ENDO-POWER β diet (Texas Tech. University, 2001). This study implies that the addition of ENDO-POWER β to swine diets may have helped play a role in maintaining or improving the development of intestinal villi, which is vital for nutrient absorption.

Managing feed costs remains one of the most critical factors impacting the profitability of today’s live-stock and poultry operations. One problem livestock and poultry enterprises face is to find ingredients that function to help reduce feed costs while also contributing to enhance animal performance and productivity. FERMKITO is a natural microbial fermented product with Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus oryzae etc., containing chitin, chitosan, chitosan oligosaccharides and natural carotenoids as fermentation metabolites. FERMKITO can be used as a safe alternative to AGPs (Antibiotic Growth Promoters) and natural immune enhancer for animals.

Chitin is a safe and natural substance found in the shells of crabs, insects and in the cell walls of mushrooms. It also ranks the second most plentiful organic compound to cellulose on earth. Chitin and its derivatives have many properties such as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal eff ects, immune en-hancing eff ects, lowering cholesterol levels, prevention of constipation, reducing blood pressure, activation of cell metabolism, improving liver functions and excretion of harmful metals that make them attractive for a wide variety of health applications.

According to various functionality of chitin and its derivatives, FERMKITO also has shown very signifi cant eff ects on many applications in animal industry such as growth enhancer as an alternative to AGPs in swine and broiler. A study designed to measure egg production and egg quality in layer diets without and with FERM-KITO shows the FERMKITO’s effi cacy. While layers were fed similar diets only diff erent in FERMKITO addition, the survival rates, egg production, egg quality in layers fed the diets with FERMKITO were higher and better than those in layers without FERMKITO (Khon Kaen University, Thailand, 2001). This study implies that FERMKITO in layer diets may help to improve layer performance both in the aspect of production and egg quality.

YEASTURE

YEASTURE is a high quality yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) fermented with extruded grains (corn and soybean meal) for suffi cient amount of time to maximize production of useful metabolites (vitamins, organic acids, amino acids, UGF, etc).

YEASTURE is produced through two diff erent steps of fermentation, liquid fermentation and solid fer-mentation. The maximum growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and its metabolites are through continuous liquid fermentation process in order to stabilize microbes and maintain the uniformity of microbial me-tabolites. While most of other fermented products are produced without proper aging process, YEASTURE is produced by aging and maturation process, solid fermentation, which allows maximizing various func-tional metabolites production from the extruded corn and soybean meal media. By using extruded grain is to completely prevent other microbial contamination from the media and let the yeast easily use nutrients by pre-digestion process. YEASTURE is also produced through the state-of-art food grade drying system at low temperature, so it can maintain whole nutritional properties of yeast culture with good fl avor, color and various metabolites.
