Betmar Coffee News for April 28, 2020
Submitted by Judi Gearsbeck and Photos by Brenda Moody
GOOD MORNING BETMAR!!!
Well another Tuesday has arrived and we are still not able to have our regular Coffee Hour…are we bored yet?
Many of us are and then many of us are using this time to do things at home that we don’t usually get a chance to
do. It gets lonely at times, but we can do this every one!
BETMAR PHONE DIRECTORIES
(This information was provided by Tom Brown.)
Until now, both Betmar phone directories (both hard copy and online) have not displayed the 813 area code for
local numbers. In a recent Newspaper article the Florida Public Service Commission announced that Zephyrhills
and other neighboring communities will have a new Area Code assigned to accomidate growth. The new Area
Code has not been assigned yet and implementation may take several months. Once the transition has been made,
local calls will require entering all ten digits.
To get ahead of this and to avoid confusion once the new Area Codes are assigned, the online directory was
recently updated to include the Area Code in all listings.
On a related matter, some of our residents have cell phone numbers that carry the 813 Area Code. For most of us,
the 813 number is assumed to be a land line. If it is a cell number and you would prefer we list it as “Cell Number”
vs. “Home Phone”, please let us know by going to the Directory Online on the Home Page ( it looks like the red
phone book) and click on “Change Existing Listing.” This is the same method you would use to add phone numbers
or e-mail addresses as well.
BETMAR PICTORIAL CURBSIDE PICKUP
Thank you to all of the wonderful Betmar Family who made
the Pictorial Pick-up such a success. You really rose to the
occasion when road blocks were thrown at me. We handed
out 450 Pictorials without incident or compromising anyone’s
safety.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and
really wish that ALL could have worked together. If only they
had bothered to ask about alternative plans before telling me
I couldn’t pass out the Pictorials. Perhaps clearer heads could
have prevailed. But unfortunately, there were knee jerk reactions as often happens. So, I came up the an
unsubmitted third alternative plan.
Thank you to Patty and Luman Rockhill who made sure we had ample maskes. Thanks also to Paul Gillissen who
made us face shields for protection. Thanks to Pat Armendinger and of course my Walt who helped us to pass out
the Pictorials. Also, thanks to those who helped pass the word around the park and those who offered positive
comments and to help if needed.
The Pictorials are safely packed away now. We will have them ready to pass out in the Fall when the Annex is open
again. If you bought a Pictorial when your pictures were taken there will be one waiting for you.- NO FEAR. If you
want one but didn’t prepay, there will be extras available in the Fall. We will also have the submitted pictures and
some free 8×10’s for pickup in the fall.
I want to thank everyone for being so patient during this very unusual time and for making the Driveway Pickup go
well. YOU ARE ALL AWESOME and WE ARE BETMAR STRONG!
Have a wonderful summer and we will see you in the Fall.
BAD ( Barbara Alice Davis) Carroll.
Stay safe – wash your hands often – wear your masks – keep your social distance.
TREE TRIMMING SCHEDULE
There has been a change in the Tree Trimming Schedule. It will now start on Monday, May 4, 2020. It will be along
the cart path between CH2/Shuffle Courts and the Kissing Bridge. The entire cart path between those two
locations will be OFF LIMITS ALL WEEK!!! For your safety, barricades
will be up along the path and on the roadways in that area, and
MUST BE RESPECTED!!
Stay safe! Please avoid this area, including the Apache Junction
connection.
Thank you,
Betmar Properties
SICK BAY:
Update on Bill Manning. For the past several weeks Bill has been in rehab and has been having a very hard time. He
was not able to stand and they were not getting anywhere with his rehab. Last week they finally found out that he
had broken his hip when he fell. He had surgery to repair his hip and now will be in rehab for a while longer. In the
meantime,Irene has not been able to visit him at all.
Please keep both Bill and Irene and their family in our prayers for Bill to have a speedy recovery.

JOKE OF THE DAY
A young blonde pilot is in her first flying lesson in a two – seater plane. Her instructor all of a sudden gets a heart
attack and dies.”May day! May day! Help me! Help me! My instructor pilot is dead and I don’t know how to fly!”
She hears a voice over the radio saying, “This is air traffic control. We can hear you loud and clear. I will talk you
through this and get you back on the ground safely. I’ve had a lot of experience with this kind of problem. Now just
take a deep breath. Everything will be fine! Give me your height and position.”
The blonde replies, “I am 5’7 and in the front seat.”
(after a long pause)
“OK” says the voice in the radio….”Now repeat after me….Our Father Who Art in heaven….”
Have a great week my friends and remember to stay safe!!

I was wondering, since the office is shut down until further notice, if it would be possible to get the listing of
people and/or companies that provide different services here in the park? I’m looking for lawn care and tree
removal services. I really appreciate all the info that you have been providing during these strange times. I love
receiving news of our park even when we are up home during the summer months. Thanks again for all you do
and also to all the people who are keeping our park beautiful. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay 6 feet apart!!!!

To those in the park that have decided to disregard our pet section vs. non pet section rules…..
If you are going to be disrespectful enough to disregard these rules than at least be respectful of your
neighbors and keep your barking dogs inside your house… I did not buy my home in the non pet section of the
park only to listen to barking and yipping dogs all hours of the day and night. This is something you and only
you chose to do against the rules….not me! It is very disrespectful to your neighbors

I totally agree, Pam!! We are seeing many pets in the non pet sections that sneak them in. They need to read
the rules and register their pets, but they won’t as long as we, as residents (that don’t want dogs in our non-
pet sections), are remiss in not reporting these illegal people.

I’d also like to address the disrespectful actions of those who choose to walk their dogs on extra long or
retractable leashes and think it’s ok to allow their dogs to go INTO the yards of other people so they can do
their business. Even if it’s being picked up, I do not appreciate my lawn being used as a potty patch. If a dog
that’s being walked has the urge to go and does so on the side of the road, that’s one thing, but to think it’s
ok to allow your dog to be 10 or 15 feet into someones yard to lift it’s leg or squat where ever it chooses is
wrong and totally inconsiderate to the homeowner. My other pet peeve is those who allow their dogs to lift
their leg on garbage cans or items waiting to be picked up by the trash pickup. I’m sure the garbage men
don’t appreciate handling items that have been urinated on and I don’t want to smell it when we bring our
can back up to the house. So please, whether you are walking in a pet section or non pet section, do not
allow your dogs to go into the yards of others , keep them on the side of the road.

Are the mosquitoes worse this year? I’m sure they already sprayed recently but I’ve had them in the Florida
room which hadn’t happened before..
