STATEMENT OF FAITH . . . The Apostles’ Creed We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He arose from the dead, He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.

The Mission of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical,
emotional and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed. At every level of the connection and in every local church, the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall engage in carrying out the
spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and
serve the needy through a continuing program of (1) preaching the gospel, (2) feeding the hungry, (3) clothing the naked, (4)
housing the homeless, (5) cheering the fallen, (6) providing jobs for the jobless, (7) administering to the needs of those in prison, hospitals, nursing homes, asylums and mental institutions, senior citizens’ homes; caring for the sick, the shut-in, the
mentally and socially disturbed, and (8) encouraging thrift and economic advancement.
WHAT’S YOUR LOVE LANGUAGE? Of the countless ways
we can show love to one another, five key categories, or five love
languages, proved to be universal and comprehensive—everyone has
a love language, and we all identify primarily with one of the five love
languages:
Words of Affirmation - Actions don’t always speak louder than words.
If this is your love language, unsolicited compliments mean the world
to you. Hearing the words, “I love you,” are important—hearing the
reasons behind that love sends your spirits skyward. Insults can leave
you shattered and are not easily forgotten.
Quality Time — In the vernacular of Quality Time, nothing says, “I love
you,” like full, undivided attention. Being there for this type of person
is critical, but really being there—with the TV off, fork and knife
down, and all chores and tasks on standby—makes your significant
other feel truly special and loved. Distractions, postponed dates, or the failure to listen
can be especially hurtful.
Receiving Gifts—-Don’t mistake this love language for materialism; the receiver of gifts
thrives on the love, thoughtfulness, and effort behind the gift. If you speak this language,
the perfect gift or gesture shows that you are known, you are cared for, and you are
prized above whatever was sacrificed to bring the gift to you. A missed birthday,
anniversary, or a hasty, thoughtless gift would be disastrous—so would the absence of
everyday gestures.
Acts of Service—Can vacuuming the floors really be an expression of love? Absolutely!
Anything you do to ease the burden of responsibilities weighing on an “Acts of Service”
person will speak volumes. The words he or she most want to hear: “Let me do that for
you.” Laziness, broken commitments, and making more work for them tell speakers of
this language their feelings don’t matter.
Physical Touch — A person whose primary language is Physical Touch is,
not surprisingly, very touchy. Hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful
touches on the arm, shoulder, or face—they can all be ways to show excitement, concern,
care, and love. Physical presence and accessibility are crucial, while neglect or abuse can
be unforgivable and destructive.

THE SONG OF REMEMBRANCE “At the Cross” 1. Alas! and did my Savior bleed And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I? . Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! . 2. Was it for crimes that I had done He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown! And love beyond degree! . 3. But drops of grief can ne’er repay The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away,’Tis all that I can do. THE PRAYER THE CHORAL RESPONSE Bethel B.A.S.I.C. Gospel Choir
“Order My Steps” Glen Burleigh
Order my steps in Your word dear, Lord. Lead me guide me everyday.
Send Your anointing, Father, I pray. Order my steps in Your Word.
I want to walk worthy, my calling to fulfill. Please order my steps, Lord;
And I’ll do Your blessed will. The world is every changing, but You are still the same.
Please order my steps and I’ll praise Your name.
THE GENERAL CONFESSION Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men,
we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness which we from time to
time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against Your divine
Majesty, provoking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly
repent and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is
grievous unto us.
Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for Your Son our Lord
Jesus Christ’s sake; forgive us all that is past and grant that we may ever hereafter serve
and please You in newness of life, to the honor and glory of Your name, through Jesus
Christ our Lord, Amen.

THE SCRIPTURE Matthew 5:1-12 The Beatitudes . Now when Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on a mountainside and sat down.
His disciples came to Him, 2 and He began to teach them.
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. .
11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds
of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your
reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were
before you.
