Volunteer Experience: Girl Scouts – Troop Leader Volunteer 2010 - Current

I’ve been a Girl Scout since I was in Kindergarten. In fall of 2010, my friends and I decided to adopt a Girl Scout Troop whose leaders were stepping down. We act as their leaders, work on badge requirements, and go camping with these girls. It’s like having twenty little sisters. We started with 6-10 girls who were in kindergarten and first grade and since then we’ve grown to about twenty girls aging from kindergarten to seventh grade. I look forward to our meeting each week and I love going on outings with these lovely young ladies.

Run Disney Volunteer January 2014, 2015, 2016 I volunteered to work a run Disney race at least once a year. I worked multiple shifts performing many different responsibilities - one at the finish line in EPCOT’s parking lot prepping and handing out waters to the 5k participants, Gear Check for the Half Marathon, Screaming Fans providing the motivation needed to make it to the finish, preparing ice packs for injured runners, distributing water, Powerade and encouragement at mile 23 of the Full Marathon, and several shifts at the Health and Fitness Expo - distributing race credentials, organizing and distributing race shirts, assembling ChEAR Squad Packets and provided them to guests, answering any questions, directing them to the other areas they needed to visit.

Snellville Cub Scout Day Camp – Youth Volunteer June 2007 - June 2011 I volunteered as Youth Camp Staff at Snellville Cub Scout Camp for four years. My responsibilities varied from leading group activities to planning the entire Program for 100+ campers. I taught activities like woodworking, knots, and crafts. I also organized the all camp water day.
