BRIEF DESCRIPTION• Existing Pfänder Tunnel constructed 1974 and 1980 to bypass Bregenz. • Key component of A14 Rhine Valley Highway and European road network • 2nd Tube required due to increasing traffic and stricter safety standards.• 6.6 km new 2nd tube excavated by TBM 12.5 m.• Geology: Molasse: conglomerates, sandstone, shale, claystone•Double-shell lining with a backfilled, non-watertight segmental lining waterproofing membrane between segments and cast-in-place lining• 15 cross-passages between the tunnel tubes, 7 lay-bys• Rehabilitation of existing tube
