WE’RE THE CHILDREN’S WELLBEING EXPERTS Social and emotional wellbeing is the rich learning that helps every child and adult to navigate life’s inevitable BUMPS and HAZARDS. Leaving the development of these all-encompassing skills to chance can be a slippery slope to mental health issues in the tricky teen years, and continue into adulthood.

APPROVED AND ALIGNED BEST Programs’ social and emotional wellbeing resources have been audited and approved by KidsMatter and the Australian Psychological Society. They not only comply with child mental health guidelines, but also

rank highly across other program comparisons. The early year’s resource, Little Highway Heroes, aligns with the Australian Early Years Learning Framework, as does Highway Heroes - the primary year’s resource - with the Australian National Curriculum’s Personal and Social Capabilities unit - and the various state derivatives.

UNDERSTANDING THE BEST APPROACH We’re all travelling along The Highway of Life and guaranteed to meet both little adversities - BUMPS - and those bigger, more dangerous ones called HAZARDS. Knowing how to effectively deal with these isn’t something you’re born with – it has to be learned– because it’s a big bundle of skills that we call TOOLS. That’s why we’ve made the TOOLS explicit and developed the language and resources for children to understand them, see how they work and put them into action. Because we know that children who have the TOOLS to make and keep friends, sort out friendship issues, deal with teasing and bullying, self-soothe, calm down and stay on track with their learning, do better in life. So we’re helping to grow a generation of Highway Heroes –children with the TOOLS to manage life’s BUMPS and HAZARDS resiliently. This is what BEST’s formula for life success looks like:

RESOURCES FOR KIDS AND PARENTS BEST’s Kids’ and Parents’ Guides have a wealth of practical ideas to help you really understand and manage the social and emotional BUMPS and HAZARDS that are met everywhere. Easy to read, easy to teach, this is knowledge kare highly applicable information that gets to the point and teaches life skills.

BEST Kids’ & Parents’ Guides: 1) Bullying and Teasing and 2) Friendships

A Kids’ Guide to Beating Bullying and Teasing

Explores the ‘FOPL’ (‘Fact of Playground Life’) of bullying and teasing. The differences are clarified, and the TOOLS to tame teasing and to beat bullying are explored - including cyberbullying.

A Parents’ Guide to Beating Bullying and Teasing Whether a child has been on the receiving end of teasing or bullying - or is the perpetrator – this book establishes the differences and shows how to teach assertiveness as well as how to help a child who might be engaged in bullying or cruel teasing behaviour. Cyberbullying is explored, and safety steps identified.

A Kids’ Guide to Fixing Friendships It’s a life skill to be able to make - and keep – friends, and to sort out any relationship issues that arise. These concepts are explored together with the TOOLS that grow friendships and also help to manage conflict.

A Parents’ to Fixing Friendships Parents often feel at a loss about how they can help with friendship issues – but not with this book in hand. Explore the many practical, effective TOOLS.
