Our goal in this part of the session is to look at ways that 1:1 technology dovetails with TAP.

Our goal in this part of the session is to look at ways that 1:1 technology dovetails with TAP.

The short answer is that 1:1 technology creates opportunities for blended learning entirely consistent with the TAP rubric, and that makes teachers more efficient.

Our goal in this part of the session is to look at ways that 1:1 technology dovetails with TAP.

The short answer is that 1:1 technology creates opportunities for blended learning entirely consistent with the TAP rubric.

This includes how we, as teachers, can incorporate technology in ways that improve our scores on TAP evaluations.

Our goal in this half-hour is to identify a few ways we can effectively incorporate 1:1 technology into our TAP environment.

We will work in small groups, mixed between elementary and secondary, to identify blended learning strategies that utilize the new technology to fulfill TAP indicators.

We chose Standards & Objectives, specifically,

“There is evidence that most students

demonstrate mastery of the objective.”

Page 9: Best practices tap

In a standard classroom setting, we would do

look for evidence in several ways:

✔ The questions students ask, and the answers

they give;

✔ Student performance on in-class tasks; and,

✔ Student performance on assignments, quizzes

& exams.

Page 10: Best practices tap

So how does this translate to the 1:1

environment?

Student questions & responses –

✔ we’re still conversing with our students;

✔ we can still do everything we’ve ever done;

Student questions & responses –

✔ we’re still conversing with our students;

✔ we can still do everything we’ve ever done;

✔ LMS toolkit also permits

bulletin boards for questions & answers

private scaffolding, differentiated instruction

record of individual interactions, including

where students go online and what they find

Student performance on in-class tasks –

✔ we’re still monitoring visually & aurally;

✔ we will still do hand grading and other forms

of feedback

Student performance on in-class tasks –

✔ we’re still monitoring visually & aurally;

✔ we will still do hand grading and other forms

of feedback ;

✔ LMS toolkit also permits

automatic tracking of individual students

automated grading of homework

requiring students to complete tasks and/or

chapters in order

Student performance on assignments, quizzes

& exams –

✔ some assignments, especially those involving

creative thinking & exposition, will still require

hand grading;

✔ individuated feedback will still be done in

face-to-face conferences

Student performance on assignments, quizzes

& exams –

✔ some assignments will still require

hand grading;

✔ individuated feedback will still be done in

face-to-face conferences;

✔ LMS toolkit also permits

quizzes can be set to require correct answers

quizzes & tests can be set to auto grading

students can work ahead at their own pace,

and can go anywhere online

Now we’ll ask you to get into groups, select the

TAP indicator in your assigned category, and do

the same.

We’ll take about 10 minutes for this, and then

come back together for brief presentations.
