Updating the Collegeemail security policy

I have suggested that:· The relationship between members of each class

is a special case· Classmates should be able to exchange emails

directly and easily to encourage and facilitate that special relationship.

· College should provision a page listing classmates names with ability to click to send an email

Conditions for allowingdirect Email to Classmates

· Contact information are be secured by College login · Display prevents users from making a bulk copy of email

addresses· Opt-out flag in their College profile to prevent their email

The College has agreed

· The College will build a new page displaying a list of classmates with the ability to click and email directly to any classmate

· It will use the actual email address and your email system – not a redirected form You will get bounce-backs and non-delivery notices

· Email addresses will come directly from the College database in real time

When will it be done?

· We hope to have a working version out in 8-10 weeks

· This is a bold, ambitious decision

· The first version might be imperfect and continued effort will be made to deal with improvements from what we learn
