Indore is the largest city of the Madhya Pradesh, located on the southern edge of Malwa Plateau, and 190 kilometers to the west of Bhopal. The history of the city is related to the Maratha Empire. It has several tourist places, where you can visit round the year. “Devguradia Shiva Mandir” is situated in the village of Devguradia, which is 8 km apart from the city on Nemawar road. It was built in the 7th century, formed from monolithic rocks. In the 18th century Ahilya Bai Holkar ordered to reconstruct the temple. Popularly known as Garuda Tirth, the temple has an outlet in the form of Gomukh. The water which is flowing through the Gomukh, falls on the Shiva Lingam. The original Shiva Lingam is 12 ft in height and now under the water in sunken temple. The present temple is constructed on the hollow temple. On every Shivaratri, a fair is organized in the honour of the Lord Shiva. The “Lal Bagh Palace” is the one the most historian architectures, it was built by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar during 1886-1921. It is situated outside the skirts of the town. It hosted many receptions of the royal family, even today it reflects many lifestyles and tastes of Holkar.

“Krishnapura Chhatris” are the cenotaphs, built in the memory of Holkar rulers. It is located near the Rajwara, elegantly stands on the banks of Khan River. These cenotaphs are the tombs built on the cremation spot of the rulers. You can visit these chhatris for an exquisite architecture. The “Rajwada” is a seven storey building built by the Holkars, two centuries ago. It is located near the chhatris in the main square of the city. It is a historical architecture blend with Maratha, Mughal, and French. You must visit this place; it is such a living example of the magnificence of the Holkars. The “Kanch Mandir” as the name denotes, it is completely decorated with the beautiful glass work, built by Seth Hukumchand Jain. Its having the idols of Tirthankaras are flanked by mirrors on both sides, thus their images are seen infinite times. The city has numerous places to visit such as Annapurna Temple, Gomatgiri, Meghdoot Upvan and much, much more. You would like it whenever you will visit Indore and defiantly you will say “MP Gazab Hai”.
