It may be the last slice of clas-sic Americana and arguablythe most civic hangout in

town. A social spot filled withred leather chairs and shinyclippers where Barber Bill Adri-an can boast about cutting fivegenerations of hair in Rocklin.

From Town and Country Vil-

lage in Sacramento to the Rock-lin barbershop he built himselfin 1971, Adrian has been cut-ting hair for almost 55 years.

There were 1,400 people intown when I first came to Rock-lin, recalled Adrian. Ive hadso many kids that Ive raised upand now theyre bringing intheir kids. Its so great to get toknow the people here. I havefun with the kids and thats a

great thing for me.While being named Best Bar-

ber in Rocklin is nothing newfor Adrian, who has a wall full ofreaders choice awards, remi-niscing about his days in a bar-bershop is always interesting.

When the San Francisco49ers came to town I cut Bill Walshs hair two to three timeevery summer, said Adrian,who has sponsored local sportsteams since the 60s.

I love sponsoring the T-ball

teams. The kids have fun and theparents arent that into it yet.

When it comes to haircuts, Adrian has seen them all. Hisstaff has noticed more boysgoing for shorter cuts sinceJustin Bieber cut his fringe.

Another trend resurfacing isshaved-in hair designs.

We can pretty much free-

hand anything you want in yourhair, said Tim Veloz of RocklinBarber Shop. Ive done Air Jor-dan; lightning bolts are popularalso. You just freehand shave adrawing in.

Adrian also serves about 12female customers and courtsthe business community bykeeping his shop open until 8

p.m. on Wednesdays andThursdays.

Bill always gives me a goodhair cut, said John Manning ofOrangevale. The other thing isBill knows how to do a flattop. Alot of younger barbers dontreally do a good flattop and hecuts it just the way I like it.Thats why I keep coming back.

lmost 13 years ago, Tonyand Pam Bosserman

opened a flooring store inLoomis.

Bosserman said the businessstarted out in a little buildingacross from Nelthorpes, next towhat is now the Loomis TownHall. He said the business wasoriginally called Floors to Go,but upgraded to Flooring Amer-ica because its got a biggerselection, better warranties, andlower pricing.

Now the business sits on thecorner of Horseshoe Bar andTaylor Roads in the historicLoomis Mutual Supply build-ing.

The business sells and installscarpet, tile, wood, laminate andlinoleum.

Its really vinyl but most peo-ple call it linoleum, Bossermansaid.

Bosserman said Flooring America offers installation oneverything they carry. He saidfor the month of July, he is offer-ing customers free installationon carpet purchases.

Bosserman said his business

also does carpet binding andrug making.

We can take any carpet inthe store, make it any size youwant, throw binding around theedges, any shape or size, and itbecomes a throw rug, Bosser-man said.

He said when choosing floor-ing, carpet is still the best value.

It has the least expensivelabor. The prices are just loweron the materials than any of theother floors, he said.

When asked how manyemployees he has, Bossermansaid, My wife and I we do itall.

He said his six children haveall worked at the store at onetime or another.
