For I know the plans I have for you,”declares the LORD,“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jer 29:11
Yet, when the curtain of silence is drawn back, the evidence of Jesus’ histori-cal influence is undeniable.

THE COMING OF JESUS CHRIST
NO ORDINARY PERSON
Some modern critics assert that Je-sus Christ never really existed and that He was a fictitious character cre-ated by recycling myths about pagan gods like Horus, Osiris, Tammuz and Adonis. However, these claims ignore the facts of history, and the contrived similarities do not hold up when orig-inal sources are examined. Instead, Jesus emerges as a real historical per-son from both biblical and non-bib-lical writers. Flavius Josephus, a Jewish historian writing about 90ad mentions Jesus as a wonder worker, crucified by Pontius Pilate and re-turning to life by a resurrection from the dead (Antiquities, 18;4). Tacitus, a Roman senator and historian writ-ing just after 100ad mentions Jesus Christ as well, remarking on His cruci-fixion by Pilate and the rapid growth
of the religion bearing His name (An-nals, 15,44). Biblical writers cite doz-ens of prophecies written centuries earlier that were fulfilled by the com-ing of Jesus Christ. It is interesting to note, there are no prophecies about the coming of Buddha, Confucius or
Muhammad.
Modern critical scholars claim that miracles ascribed to Jesus did not happen because they, personally, don’t see miracles happening to-day—so they assume miracles cannot happen. However, such assumptions overlook the fact that Jesus’ mira-cles, including His resurrection and the resurrection of others, were wit-nessed by many people (Acts 2:22, 32; 1 Corinthians 15:1–8) and were even commented on by non-biblical
authors, such as Josephus.

Counseling @ HRby Darryl Krige
In the counselling process one of the firstthings that need to be addressed in thestudent’s life is the issue of justification.A lot of the people that come fromdestructive/ degenerated lifestylesoften have a problem with grasping thefact that they are completely justifiedbefore the living God through the bloodof Christ. One of our first roles as counsellorsis to get them past the self-condemningfeelings of guilt to a place of
true repentance. This is done by findingout what their current views of theirproblems are and then pointing them tothe biblical solution. On the other side of the justificationcoin are the students that believe thatjustification means freedom fromconsequence. This problematic thinkingmust also be addressed because it isoften our consequences that separate usfrom our sin. This opens the door so our
sanctification/ regeneration that takesplace through the guidance of the HolySpirit through God’s Word. This process cannot begin without anacceptance of responsibility.

WORK
In Genesis 1 and 2, we read that God rested on the seventh day of the week after six days of cre-ating the world around us. The passage not only teaches us about the seventh-day Sabbath, but also shows us that God is not lazy! He does not avoid work, but savors what can be accomplished through intensive effort. God has designed and created a vast and complex universe, from the most massive star to the tiniest cell in our bodies. If we follow God’s example, we will embrace work instead of trying to avoid it, and developing that attitude is the first step toward success.
For example, in math class you may be able to “slide by” for a time when the material is easy, but it gets harder. Successful students have learned that you don’t get an “A”—and, more importantly, don’t learn the material—without working hard by studying and practicing.
The same rule applies in sports. A competitive swimmer will swim hundreds and even thousands of yards as he strives to improve in the sport—and it is hard work, requiring both mental and physi-cal effort. Anyone not willing to expend that effort simply will not succeed.
The Bible actually records many examples that demonstrate the importance God places on work and effort. For instance, God told ancient Israel, “The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand” (Deuter-onomy 28:12). In other words, if you don’t work,
you’ll limit God’s opportunity to bless you. And Nehemiah says that the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt because “the people had a mind to work” (Nehemiah 4:6). It wasn’t magic or “wishing”—it was work!
CONSISTENCY
But it has to be more than making a big “extra ef-fort” once in a while. Real success only happens when we add the additional quality of consisten-cy to our work. Practicing the trumpet once in a while will not produce excellence. But practicing consistently every day for months and years can.
According to some scholars who have studied successful people, there is a “10-year rule”: If you want to be really, really good at something, you have to put at least a decade of consistent, fo-cused effort into it. University of Chicago psychol-ogist Benjamin Bloom studied 120 elite athletes, performers, artists, biochemists and mathemati-cians, and he found that every person in the study consistently trained, worked and practiced for at least a decade before achieving international rec-ognition (Ericsson, Anders K. with Niel Charness, Paul J. Feltovich and Robert R. Hoffman, The Cam-bridge Handbook of Expertise and Expert Perfor-mance).

Counseling @ LRby Claudi Pira
Luke 6:35“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return;and your reward will be great, and youwill be sons of the Most High; for HeHimself is kind to ungrateful and evilmen.”Because the Spirit of God indwells us,our acts towards all we get in contact
with, should portray the same kindness, even to our enemies.During the past month, the oppositespirit was sadly very visible amongstthe students, with very little love andkindness towards one another, butrather mocking, vindictiveness etc.As we are known by our fruit, of whichkindness is one, we should examine
and judge ourselves, rather than bejudged by God for not showing Jesusto those around us.Furthermore, if we just look at thekindness we receive from Him daily, undeservedly, it is just fitting that wepass it on to all those we touch daily.

My name is Malcolm. I am 17 years old and a
student at House Regeneration. Before I en-
rolled myself into House Regeneration, my life
was heading south. I was all into smoking and
taking drugs. Besides that I was losing at school,
only had druggies for friends and my relationship
between me and my brother, parents and fam-
ily was through the window. Then I met Jesus
and slowly healing began. Now I got hope and a
future planned for my life. Accepting Jesus and
quitting drugs was the easy part. Living for God
though, is the hard part.
(Psalm 35:27)”Let the Lord be magnified, who delights
and takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant”.
I was born and raised in a broken family in Pretoria.
All my life I knew how important it is for me to have
the Lord in my life, yet I always managed to run off and
do my own rebellious will...and it always lead me on a
path of destruction. I was in bondage to addiction for
more than 20 years of my life. Eventually I lost every-
thing and almost my life too...hurting everybody that
loves me...Today I am so grateful that the Lord never
gave up on me and He brought me to House Regen-
eration....All broken...giving me a second chance to
change my ways! Jesus made me realize how much we
need a savior in this messed up world! Jesus showed
me how much He loves me! Jesus transforms the bro-
ken hearted into “whole-hearted” winners! I am so
grateful to be alive today and this thankful heart of
mine will forever be indebted to You my Lord! Thank
you for bringing purpose into my life! From now on Je-
sus’ footprints will be my new Life’s journey!
AMEN!
