Summer Camp Partner Program Descriptions

Legomatics

Exploring Jr Robotics (5-7)

LEGO Bots tech camp is for LEGO lovers who want to bring motion and life to their LEGO

builds. In this course, kids learn an age-appropriate application of engineering principles by

building and programming simple machines, mechanisms, and structures with LEGO WeDo

technology and perform a series of mini-challenges. Kids construct robots that they control

using basic visual programming to move with motors, react with sensors and make noise.

Exploring Robotics (8-11)

This camp provides an amazing introduction to robotics and programming utilizing LEGO

Mindstorm EV3 robotic systems. Each day is a new adventure. Fun for campers of all ability

levels, each day will bring a new adventure in STEM. Battle with other teams in races and

competitions that will test your skills with EV3. Campers will be introduced to a new way to

look at robots and programming.

Mod Design: (12+) -

Let’s create our own world….within the world of Minecraft that is. We will learn to code in

JAVA Script that will allow us to alter and control the world within Minecraft. You’ve been

playing Minecraft for years, now it is time to take the next step while learning valuable

programming tools you can apply anywhere. At the end of camp, participants will receive

steps on how to keep modding at home long after the camp is over. Campers must have their

own Minecraft account login & password. Laptops required Windows 7 or newer, or Mac.

MineCraft Coding (8-11)

We have combined two favorites, Minecraft and Game Making, and offered them in one

GIGANTIC camp that introduces Minecraft Mod Design and Video Game Creation! Now you

will rule the Minecraft and gaming world with your own mod and game creations. We will be

introducing NEW MODDING SOFTWARE that will make created even easier. No programming

experience required. At the end of camp, participants will receive a complimentary USB with

all the game creations and steps on how they can keep modding at home. Campers must have

their own Minecraft account login & password. Laptops are required, campers may bring their

own Laptops – Windows 7 or newer, or Mac.

Arcade Game design - (8-11)

In Game Making Camp campers create incredible games with AWESOME graphics and learn to

implement computer programming. Campers go through the process of creating a video

game – brainstorming, planning, character design, level design, programming, user interface

design and much more! The GameMaker™ Studio software caters to everyone from entry-

level novices all the way up to game development professionals. In addition to professional

quality development, GameMakerTM allows campers to create fully functional prototypes for

beta testing before publishing a final game at the end of the week! games created in this

camp are saved on a complimentary USB drive to play with friends and family on Windows

computers. Laptops are required, campers may bring their own Laptops – Windows 7 or

newer.

Jr Coding Camp (5 – 7)

Our coding and STEM camps are perfect intros to critical thinking & fundamental

programming skills! With kid-friendly, tablet-based and computer-based software, you can

create exciting games, animations and more. Coding is a blast with the software and

programming taught in Creative Coders! Combining musical, artistic and computer skills, kids

create interactive games with the software, Scratch. Scratch, a program that helps kids

visualize and then craft code. Ignite an interest in the creative possibilities of programming,

including games, animations, and interactive stories.

Young Rembrandts

Storybook Drawing: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (5 – 7)

Children ages 5-7 will explore the world of Laura Numeroff in this five-day workshop full of art

and reading. Each day the class will read a different Laura Numeroff book, and then draw a

Young Rembrandts lesson to illustrate the topic of the book. Students will bring their favorite

stories to life by combining creativity and imagination! Sign up your reading artist today!

Inthe morning, students can enroll in the separate Best in Class Math and English enrichment

session that will help them stay academically sharp through a variety of activities including

math, word problems, logic exercises, reading comprehension, and writing.

STEAM Drawing (7 – 12) Young Rembrandts' STEAM drawing workshop teaches your child to draw visual

representations of the fascinating world of STEAM! Students will illustrate different fields of

Science, new Technologies, incredible feats of Engineering and striking Math principles.

I/We understand that all the course materials are the exclusive property of Best in Class Education Center

and their partners and agree that I/we will not disclose any information, written or verbal, obtained from this

program to any third parties. I/We further understand that these materials may not be reproduced in any

form.

LATE NOTICE/PICK-UP CHARGES

I/We understand the standard pick-up time is between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Extended hours (if enrolled) are

between 8:00 am and 9:00 am and/or 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. If my/our child(ren) is/are picked up after the

time his/her program is scheduled to end, the late pick-up fee will be applied. The late pick-up fee is $1 per

minute ($10 minimum). If my/our child(ren) need(s) extended care on a particular day, I/we will provide

advanced notice by 9:30am the morning of the intended late pick up to see if accommodations can be

made. If approved, the hourly late pick-up fee is $10 per hour on the day of until 6:00 pm. If student is picked

up after 6:00 pm or without notice and approval, the standard late pick-up fee will apply. The payment must

be submitted before the end of the camp week.

I/We understand and accept that there is no credit for absences. No make-up classes are given for

absences.

AUTHORIZATION:

I/We grant permission for my child to participate in all the activities offered by Best in Class Education and

its partners. I/We authorize Best in Class Education to use my/our child’s image/likeness and completed

class/art work for promotional purposes.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY:

To my/our knowledge my/our son/daughter is physically healthy and able to participate in the class for

which he/she is registered. I/we, the parents/guardians of ________________________________________assume

any and all risks and hazards of the conduct of the program and release from responsibility and liability any

person(s) teaching my child(ren). In case of injury, I/we do hereby waive all claims against the organization,

or any supervisor or employee connected with the program. I/we further release Best in Class Education

Center and any/all staff personnel of the center from responsibility or liability as regards to injuries suffered

by the above mentioned person in connection with his/her participation in said program.

REFUND POLICIES:

Deposit (minus a $50 service charge) is refundable if canceled at least 14 days prior to the first day of

registered camp. Summer camp tuition is non-transferrable.

No refunds or cancelations of tuition, extended hour or other fees if notification is made less than 14 days

before the first day of registered camp.

No refunds of any tuition or fees once your child(ren)’s camp has begun.

or Paramedics. I/We also give permission for my/our child to be transported by an aid car, ambulance, or

In the event that I/we cannot be contacted, I/we further consent to the medical, dental, surgical, hospital

care, treatment, and procedures to be performed for my/our child by a licensed physician (M.D.), dentist

(D.D.S.), or hospital when deemed immediately necessary or advisable by the physician to safeguard the life,

limb, or well-being of my/our child.

It is understood that a conscientious effort will be made to notify me/us or other persons listed on this form

before such action is taken.

The expense of this service will be accepted by me/us.
