Track & Field: Bessborough had an amazing Track and Field season this year. Starting with our track days at the school in early May right through to the City Championships the second week in June. All students from Grades 3-8 took the skills they learned in gym to the south field and gave it their all. Ribbons were awarded and the Varsity Meet Team was formed. Teachers and Parents trained with close to 100 athletes and coached them at Varsity Stadium on a beautiful day in May. Qualifiers in Grades 4-8 moved on to form the Conference Team that would compete June 1st with the hopes of advancing to compete with the best athletes in the City. 29 Athletes made up the City Championship Team. Everyone gave it their all and the coaches were proud of our amazing athletes. We must point out a couple of exceptional performances. The Grade 5 boys 4x100 relay came home with the Silver medal. Congratulations to Will Wright, Ollie Burnett, Will Locklin and Jake King. Well done boys! And to our graduating Track Star Remy Cattell. Through the 2015 season Remy broke many personal bests and personified every character trait that makes us so proud of our Bessborough Athletes. She took home gold medals from the first two meets and ended up with two silver medals from the City Championships. One in the 1500 and one in the 400 (a new event for her). We look forward to working with all the young athletes you have inspired during your many years competing in Track and Cross Country at Bessborough. Thank you to Ms. Robertson, Mr. Ludin, Ms. Backus, Mr. Baker and Mr. Couper and all of the teachers that helped with Track from the beginning. Thank you to the parents that came out to coach and support the team as well. Thank you to the administration for supporting Track and Field at the school. Until next season…….. Go Bessborough!! Pam Horwood
