Erosion Protection Concrete Cloth (CC) – Technical Advantages

CC provides a hard armor surface protection preventing weathering erosion of the bund. CC is fiberreinforced and has an abrasion resistance twice that of ordinary Portland cement.

Weed SuppressionCC is an effective weed suppressant, reducing future maintenance costs associated with grass cutting of topsoils and negating the risk of fire from dried grasses.

Install in Wet Weather

Once hydrated, CC has a working time of 2 hours. This allows for installation in wet conditionswhich reduces disruption due to inclement weather. When the weather was such that refurbishmentwork on the berms isn’t possible, the contractors can switch to lining the already refurbished sections withCC, meaning that there was a minimum delay in installation due to poor weather conditions.

Summary of Concrete Cloth (CC)

Concrete Canvas (CC) is a flexible concrete impregnated geotextile that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable,fiber reinforced concrete layer. Used predominately for above ground drainage applications, the material can also beused for hard armor capping of earth berms around oil refinery tank farms

CC provides high level protection against degradation of earth bunds by preventing surface erosion from wind, rain and freeze thaw. CC significantly extends the operational life span of berms, reducing through-life maintenance and rebuild costs.

CC has excellent drape characteristics, allowing the material to conform in and around existing infrastructure, form sealed joints around pipe protrusions and negotiate sharp bends and variations.

CC produces no back spray, eliminating problems associated with using sprayed concrete or resin based lining and reinforcement systems around sensitive infrastructure.
