1.0 Introduction

A report on a proposal to build three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow for the elderly.

We want to build a Malacca house concept for this proposal. This is because we build the house on Malacca land and of course we want to put Malacca features in our house architecture. We will build three units of one-storey bungalow with Malacca features in Padang Temu. We choose one-storey bungalow house because we want the elderly who live in the house feels comfortable with the facilities that we have provided. Our one-storey bungalow house will have 10 rooms that also have bathrooms in every room. Apart from that, we also will have a prayer room in each of the house for the elderly as we build the house for the Muslims. We also will equip the house with a dining room, living room, entertainment room and also a library. The house will be 60 Width x 25 Length.

Berjaya Corporation Berhad is a big company that have many assets and properties. Berjaya group of companies' history dates back to 1984 when our Founder, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun acquired a major controlling stake in Berjaya Industrial Berhad (originally known as Berjaya Kawat Berhad and now known as Reka Pacific Berhad) from the founders, Broken Hill Proprietary Ltd, Australia and National Iron & Steel Mills, Singapore. Berjaya Berhad Corporation main goal is to do charity works for all stage of ages. In order to achieve our goals, we want to build Vintage one-storey bungalow for elderly who can afford it and had retired to rest and do activities together.

The three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow location was chosen at Padang Temu as there is a really suitable vacant land near the beach. We will build our Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow with 10 rooms here as it is also a good investment for us and we can do for a further plan. Land that will be purchased is over 3.4 acres. We chose this location to build our house because this land is near to the beach. It will be the perfect scenery for the elderly who will live here as they could feel calm and relax when they are here.

We will build three houses for the elderly in 3.4 acres of land in Padang Temu, Malacca. In every house, it will have 10 rooms that equipped with bathroom. We will build a room with 16 width x 20 length each. In the room, we will build a bathroom measuring 6 width x 8 length for the elderly to clean themselves.

We will do a vintage and antique decoration for the houses that we will build. For instance, we could put an old iron, old sewing machine and old radio that influence the vintage. The vintage things will surely appeal the old memories that the elderly have. They will remember during they were little and use that memorable things. We also will provide a shelf and a table in each of the rooms. This is for the elderly to arrange their things according to their preference. We do not want to set the rooms decoration by ourselves as we want the elderly to feel free to arrange their own bedroom with the help from the nurses.

We will provide one elderly with one nurse to assist them to do their daily routine. For example, the elderly could get help from their nurse to spoon-feed them if they could not eat by themselves. We do not want the elderly to do their daily routine by themselves as we are concern about their health. The nurse always will be there to help the elderly. We also will provide the nurses near the Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow house.

The elderly who register could choose whether they want to spend their time monthly at our house or they just want to come every day to our house. We do not want to specify this thing because we just want the elderly to feel happy when they are in our house without worry or sad about their family members.

The aim of our proposal is to make elderly to stay healthy and active. Other than that, we want to provide a place for elderly to them fulfil their leisure time. We also want to strengthen the relationship between elderly communities so that they can make friends. Besides that, by build three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow, Berjaya Corporation Berhad can earn profit for long term.

The construction of the bungalow is approximately three years. Each house will take one year to be built. After that we will take around six month to furbish the area by installing all the necessary items such as equipment and furniture.

Criteria

The main criteria that we require from the elderly are they should be Muslims people. This is because the construction of the house is our company's first attempt which is to make a change in the life of the elderly who have retired. Therefore, we want the elderly in the house embrace the same religion to avoid racist between them. Besides that, we want to ensure that all of the elderly feel comfortable to associate with each other. For example, this will enable us to conduct activities related to religion such as lectures delivered by a speaker who is Ustaz or Ustazah. Normally, this lecture will be held on Friday of every week.

Given that the house is available for elderly, so the age that we require is between 60 years and above. These groups of people are often staying at home alone because their children are busy working and there are also those who already have their own families. At this age, they require the attention from the family especially from their children. This is so because they want a friend to talk and do work together so that they will not feel lonely. Therefore, we will provide the nurses in the house to accompany and take care of them.

Usually the elderly who are in the age range of 60 years and above is already retired and has no activities to do at home. The house is meant for the elderly that already retired with pension. Usually the elderly that already retired will need something to do as their new daily routine. So, in our house we will do many activities for the elderly to join. For instance, every morning we will do a Tai-Chi or yoga sessions for the elderly and we will bring the elderly to the beach to get a fresh air or for a picnic. They will not feel bored as they will have many activities to do when they are in our house.

We charge a monthly rental of RM4,000 to all elderly who want to rent the house. This is because the house is provided for elderly who are capable to pay the rent. We impose rental charge for the house because the house has a wide range of amenities such as mini library, greenhouse, prayer room, spa and others. This house also differ from the other houses because it is equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi and also hired workers such as instructor, gardeners, cleaner and caretakers to the elderly who are experienced in this roles. Furthermore, the house has higher security system which consists of a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and several security guards.

Problems

Berjaya Corporation Berhad does not have any homes for the elderly before this. The houses are equipped with various facilities such as mini library, spa, surau and greenhouses. This is for the convenience of the elderly who reside in the house and make them feel less depressed as in the workplace. The houses also will give the advantages to the elderly.

Moreover we are less make charity for the elderly. Berjaya is known for its charity activities for all type of ages. However, it make less charity for the elderly. Besides, many homes for the elderly are free but with uncomfortable facilities.

Apart from that, the elderly become less active due to retirement. When the elderly retired, they will become less active due to lack of daily activities. They would sit at home by doing work that does not do a lot of movement, such as surfing the social media. They will not go out of the house because they do not have things to do outside. Furthermore, they do not need to do their house chore because they definitely had a maid in their house.

The elderly will tend to feel lonely when they are at home. When they are staying at home, they will feel lonely because there is no one to talk to. Their children often busy with work and have no time for them. Sometimes, their children rather live in different house that far away from the elderly after they married.

The elderly feel more free than people living in retirement homes. In the house, the elderly will be free to go anywhere they want. This is because they already paid the monthly fee. We want the elderly feel like they are in their own house and do not feel lonely. We will not force them to do activities that they do not want to do.

It is also to promote the elderly business. We will provide the elderly with the green house for them to plant their favourite flowers. After the flowers have bloom, the elderly could sell their flower and gain some profit. Moreover, the elderly will not feel lonely without any visitors as the outsider could come and take a tour in the green house. The activities are for filled up elderly daily routine without wasting their time for doing nothing.

Berjaya also want to provide a place for the elderly to associate among each other. Our houses will be build for the elderly to gain more benefit from it. One of the benefits is to associate with each other. Elderly who live in the house could communicate with each other and be friends. If they were in their house, they could not communicate with new friends like they could do in our house.

In addition, it is to provide a place to do a charity work. We will buy a big property for this project. We could use some of the land to do a charity work for our future plan. This is a good investment for Berjaya as we could do something that beneficial at this place.

Facilities

Greenhouse

Berjaya Corporation Berhad chose to build a green house on the land at our bungalow. It is because greenhouse offers the elderly a real home. Greenhouses are typically equipped with glass or clear plastic walls, which allow them to conserve heat while still allowing light to filter through. This creates an ideal environment for growing numerous varieties of plants. Therefore, by having a greenhouse the elderly could do their gardening by plant their favorable plant. For example, vegetables, flowers and herbs. Our greenhouse model can also be adapted to meet the needs of special populations. For instance, a greenhouse at Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow has been specially designed to meet the needs of the elderly. Residents who live in homes can take shelter from the hot weather and windy wind. Other than that, for elderly who enjoy home grown fruits and vegetables, a greenhouse provides them an efficient way to grow crops in relative safety from the outside world so that the elderly can stay healthier. Gardening has many health and therapeutic benefit for older people. It is enjoyable and provides a source of exercise and fresh food. Our green house also can make the elderly have less depression, less likely to be bed-ridden and more active physically. In short, the facility which is green house that Berjaya Corporation Berhad will provide could make the elderly feel freedom to live at their own place and in accordance with the best activity for them.

Library

As you know, libraries are social places where the elderly can chat, read and keep in touch with the outside world. From the research we made by responses of eighty respondents, the results of a survey show that the majority of respondents 86% agree that the elderly should have their own leisure time. To meet the learning needs of an increasingly diverse and growing older community, Berjaya Corporation Berhad provide a mini library in the bungalow for the elderly to use. Among the facilities that available in the mini library are Wi-Fi and personal computers. It is served to facilitate the elderly in the bungalow to do their work such as writing and they can also surf the internet during their leisure time. Moreover, accessibility is crucial for the elderly who have healthy problem. The obvious advantage of having a mini library in our three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow is the elderly who is poor of healthy can fill up their leisure time by go to our mini library instead of they need go to the far place. According Journal of Aging and Health (2008) “among the 12 leisure activities are shown, the most common among both men and women was reading books, followed by engagement in hobby activities for women and gardening for men.” To build the mini library for the elderly is one of the best ideas that Berjaya Corporation Berhad will be provide at our bungalow.

Prayer Room

As the main criteria that we require for the resident of three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow are Muslims people, Berjaya Corporation Berhad will provide a prayer room in each of the bungalow. We want the elderly in the bungalow embrace the same religion to avoid racist between them. The prayer room will be equipped with various facilities such as a microphone set, mat, veil and also the Al-Quran. Furthermore, prayer room that will be provided in the bungalow can also facilitate the elderly to manage their prayers. This is more convenient for them to perform their prayer at our prayer room instead of they need to go to the mosque. We also provide air-conditioner and fan in each of prayer room so that they can choose either one and make them more comfortable. Besides that, prayer room could enable us to conduct some activities for the elderly related to religion session such as lectures delivered by a speaker who is Ustaz and Ustazah. Normally, this lecture will be held on Friday of every week.

Garden

Berjaya Corporation Berhad will build a garden in front the bungalow. We adapted flower garden concept as the theme of our garden. Many types of colorful flowers will we spend to put at our garden to make the garden beautiful. Besides that, garden beds, equipment and tool can be modified for the elderly to create a garden that is interesting, accessible and productive. The elderly can make more enjoyable form of exercise. It is also increases the levels of physical activity and helps mobility and flexibility of the elderly. Therefore, the elderly could encourage use of all motor skills to stay healthy. Other than that, Berjaya Corporation Berhad also will build a small lake near the garden so that the old people could sit around the lake while watching fish swimming freely in the lake. By looking the beautiful scenery of the garden, the elderly also can reduce stress levels and promotes relaxation. They are also could do Tai-Chi and yoga at the garden surrounding by the nature.

Spa

Going to a spa can help cope better with stress. Recently, survey findings that 10% are selected disagree and most of the respondents are selected agree with 91% which indicates that our company should build this bungalow for the elderly. By having this result, Berjaya Corporation Berhad has suggested to build a spa therapy in our three units of Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow for the elderly. The spa will include the Jacuzzi, massage and facial. Elderly also need a massage to relax their body. Our spa therapy is one of the element of stress management and relaxation which very interesting activities for the elderly who stay in our bungalow. We also promote detoxification that eliminates toxins and excess fluids that can contribute to loss of energy and water retention by provide relaxation room for the elderly. For the elderly who have a disease like high and low blood pressure, Berjaya Corporation Berhad will provide heat hydrotherapy massage and body treatments which help to improve circulation and reduce blood pressure. By build a spa the elderly will gain these benefit that translate into a better health.

Activities

BERJAYA CORPORATION BERHADWe provide a greenhouse for the elderly to do gardening. In the green house, it will have

many partitions that we will divide for the elderly. Each elderly will have their own partition in the green house. They will not feel lonely as they will do the gardening together in the same green house. The partitions will be arranged to be near to each other. The elderly will plant any plants that they want. For instance, they could plant flowers, fruit trees or salads according to their preference. We will provide everything that they need to plant their trees. If the flower blooms, they could sell the flowers or plant it at our garden.

We have done the daily routine schedule for the elderly who register in our house. Every morning they will do their work-out in the garden. They will have a Tai-Chi or yoga to ensure that they keep their body and health fit. We already hired Tai-Chi instructors to conduct the elderly to work-out. It is a good exercise for the elderly to start their day.

Our Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow location is really near the beach. So, our staff could bring the elderly to take a fresh air at the beach. Elderly always love a beautiful scenery and fresh air, so it is a good thing to do as the elderly will not feel bored to just stay in the house. Once in a full moon, we could bring them for a holiday anywhere in Malacca.

We also will have a morning lectures for the elderly. This will fulfil their time while waiting for breakfast time rather than they continue to sleep. We will invite a preacher to give them a morning lectures and lead their Subuh prayer.

We also have provide a spa for the elderly who love to feel relax. There will be workers who will massage the elderly slowly and tender.

Duration

The pre-period

The presentation of the proposal to the Board of Director (B.O.D) is expected to be in early May and it is expected to be approved within one month. After the approval, it will take approximately 4 months to purchase and negotiates the land and to get the approval from Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah (MBMB). The construction of the building is expected to begin on 6 October 2015.

The construction period

The construction will take approximately 3 year, whereby the building have many facilities such as green house, library, garden, transportation parking, prayer room, 10 bedrooms, 11 toilets, entertainment room and others.

The post period

After the construction, it will take around 6 months to furbish the area, installing all necessary items such as the equipments at each part in the building and the furniture. “Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow” is expected to be completed by the end of December 2018.

The operation period

The “Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow” is expected to open daily, Monday to Sunday in 24 hours. It is because of sometimes the elderly want to stay and spent their time there. The equipments in “Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow” make them feel comfortable and want to stay longer. Our staffs and the nurses also stay there to look up the elderly and make sure their safety and fulfil their needs. So the elderly will be more secured.

Budget

Berjaya Corporation Berhad will spend RM3, 000 000 for construction of the 3 bungalows. We also will use RM 5000 for the construction of our green house that we provide. We will hired a construction workers to paint the bungalows with a budget of RM 30 000. So the total amount for the construction of the 3 bungalows will take RM 3,971 000.

Moreover, we will spend around RM 314 973 for the facilities that we have provide. We will buy sofa sets, book shelves, personal computers, flower pots, water sprinklers, massage bed and tables, spa accessories, jacuzzi and also fertilizers for the green house, mini library and also the spa that we provide.

Apart from that, we also will hire two Tai-Chi instructors, gardeners, cleaners and also the nurses for the 3 bungalows. The hiring cost will be spent around RM69, 390.

Based on the results of the questionnaire that we have distributed to employees in Berjaya Corporation Berhad, we found that majority of workers were agreed with all the activities we plan to do. Furthermore all the feedback that we got from those who have completed the questionnaire made our objective successfully achieved. Our objective is to make the elderly more active. Apart from that, it also has advantages in terms of health. As we know, at the age of 60s, they are not really weak but they actually did not have the energy. The energy will come from our activities that they will do at the Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow. We already prepared the schedule followed by the activities inside and they can join the activities stated. The schedule will run daily from Monday to Sunday and 24 hours. We want to maintain their health based on the activities that we run according to the schedule because we really understand if they did not have time to do all the activities when they was at the younger age. They are really busy with the business and jobs until they forgot that they still need to stay healthy. They also does not have much time and it is a main reason why we want them to join this activities.

Berjaya Corporation Berhad’s objective towards this Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow is to make the elderly more active. We want them to stay healthy and avoid them from bad disease. In addition, we have discussed with our team members and we come out with one decision that we want to provide indoor games. We think that they are the elderly and come from old generation, so that may be they want to play the traditional indoor games. For this reason we have choose two types of indoor games such as “Congkak” and “Dam Haji”. We also have included a question about this kind of indoor games in the questionnaire and majority of employees agreed. The percentage of employees agreed with these indoor games is 73% while there are 7% disagreed. Based on the result, we already know that the indoor games also important in fulfil their time. The games are not make them feel tired and can avoid them from feeling boredom. The indoor games also give beneficial to them because it can improves their memory even though they already old. It is because when someone at the age of 60s or known as elderly people, their memory are not tough as they were young and they cannot memorize everything. In that case, the indoor games especially “Dam Haji” really helped them and their memory can be improved day by day. Other than that, “Congkak” also one of the indoor game that we provided. May be “Dam Haji” is suitable for men, and we already prepared “Congkak” for women. “The name congkak is derived from the word "congak" which means "to count mentally" and this game encourages fast mental arithmetic. An efficient player who counts well will have an advantage in collecting the points or 'buah' to win the game” Rohana Mansur. We want both of our elderly feel happy and fulfil their time. “Congkak” also have advantages itself. The advantages of playing “Congkak” are the elderly can make friends and strengthen their relationship among the elderly who staying at the house. The elderly who playing “Congkak” also can enhances their brain power especially on mathematics because “Congkak” is related with calculating. If there are advantages on both of the indoor games, there must also have the disadvantages. The disadvantages are they can cheat when playing the games until there is unsatisfied situation will happen among them. For your information, we have choose this kind of indoor games because it is our traditional games and it can be a flashbacks to them when they was young.

We are really know that they have been playing “Congkak” and “Dam Haji” in the past but they did not have much time when they already worked because they are too busy with their lifestyle. Moreover, there is 7% people did not agreed with this type of indoor games. We considered may be they want the elderly to get enough rest and do something beneficial rather than playing the indoor games because they think it might waste time.

To achieve the objective, Berjaya Corporation Berhad has come out with some decision. One of our decision is we want to exist the outdoor activities for elderly. It is also one of the way to fulfil the elderly time. Before we made the decision, we have distributed the questionnaire to our employees to get a result either they are agree or not. The result of questionnaire is quite good because most of them were agreed which is 94%. For your information, elderly people are likely to do the outdoor activities. It is because they will feel calm and peaceful environment. Plus, Berjaya Vintage One-storey Bungalow was built near the beach. We think it is a suitable place and we know that elderly are likely to stay in the bungalow because of the place is near the beach. Moreover, the environment and situation there make the elderly comfortable with the wind and this one of the main reason why elderly loves to do outdoor activities. We have planned variety of activities and the activities also already stated in the schedule. The activities that we have prepared for the elderly are gardening, sightseeing, tai-chi and yoga.

Gardening activities is a favourite activity of elderly. It is because they love to see the plant that they already planting growth. It is a natural behaviour of elderly. They love to see something growing in front of their eyes especially gardening activities. This activity also can be beneficial to them because it can strengthen the relationship among them by sharing hobbies and knowledge about plant with each other. It is also can make them to stay healthy because gardening also part of exercise. Now, they can get a lot benefit when joining this activity. Another outdoor activity is sightseeing. The elderly love to sightseeing especially at the evening because they want to feel fresh air from the beach. It also can be a therapy for them because when they sightseeing, they will feel calm and enjoys the view with a relaxing mind. Sightseeing also a part of exercise. They can share stories and spent their time together. We also added up two types of exercising that the elderly can do at the bungalow which are tai-chi and yoga. It is a simple exercise but full of advantages. If there is agreement, there is must be disagreement too. 6% of employees are disagree with these outdoor activities for elderly. They think that elderly will feel tired if they do this activity and they should have time to rest. But we cannot look at these activities in negative way.

We have found the result from questionnaire for yoga and tai-chi as a body workout for elderly. The employees of Berjaya Corporation Berhad was not really agree with this two types of activities. 64 % were agreed with the activities, 24% were not really sure with the activities and 12% were disagreed. Yoga and tai-chi is part of exercising which are good for health and suitable for elderly. It is a relaxing exercise because does not have to use full of the energy to do the exercise. According to CNCA Health.com, yoga can relief the pain, reduce anxiety and depression also increase the flexibility and balance. In the other hand, Harvard Health Publications: Harvard Medical Schools have stated that, tai chi can avoid the elderly from bad diseases such as breast cancer, low bone density and heart disease. The elderly will do this exercise daily in the morning. Meaning that, they can stay healthy because we do the exercise daily and it is beneficial because morning is the time that suitable for exercise.

We also provide an experience instructor to lead them to do the exercise. They can choose either of activities that they really interesting. Besides that, for those are not sure or disagree with these activities as a body workout for elderly, yoga and tai-chi actually is a good exercise for elderly. It is because of this kind of body workout does not have a bad effect on the elderly because there is an instructor there to guide them. So they can do the body workout correctly.

We had distributes questionnaire to all of our employees. It is because we want to find out some feedback about our proposal . A pie chart above illustrate the responses of eighty respondents based on the question whether they are agree or disagree for Berjaya Corporation to build the three units of Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow.

According to the responses, most of the respondents selected agree with 90 percent which indicates that our company should build this bungalow for the elderly. In addition to the above figure, 10 percent are selected disagree. Therefore, almost of our correspondent are agreed with this statement.

A pie chart which reflects the responses of the 23th question which states,“ the elderly should have their own leisure time that they have to circle the right numbered box according to the scale given to give corresponds with the level of agreement.

From the pie chart above, the feedback of respondents are quite good. It is because 86% agree that the elderly should have their own leisure time, while 7% disagree with the statement made by Berjaya Corporation Berhad and not sure are 7%.This concludes that the overall our employees are approve with the statement.

BERJAYA CORPORATION BERHAD Therefore, Berjaya Corporation Berhad have provide many facilities and activities for the elderly to fill up their leisure time . By having so many activities, the elderly can be more cheerful and enjoyable to stay in our home. For instance, they can gardening and read the book when they have leisure time rather than doing nothing. According to Orban (2014), optimal active living should include vigorous physical activity challenges throughout the day to have full impact on one’s quality of life. Other than that, we want to ensure that our Berjaya Vintage one-storey Bungalow are the better place for them to lives.

To conclude the feedback, we found that elderly should have their leisure time. Therefore, our idea to provide the facilities and activities in our three units of Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow are support by the respondents and we can proceed in future.

We want to ensure that all of the elderly who are in the custody of our house will feel happy. We will always ensure that each of the elderly get the chance to fill up their leisure time with the best possible way.

Our company’s proposal is to build three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow for the elderly have various objectives. One of the objectives is to strengthen the relationship between the elderly and their newly acquainted. We want to strengthen the relationship between all of the elderly in the house. In order to achieve our objectives, we have provided a variety of activities for them to do it together. As referring to the pie chart, our suggestion had been well received by the employees because the percentage of employees who were agreed is over than 90 percent. Since the percentage of the employees who were agreed with the suggestion was as much as 96 percent, while the rest is the percentage of employees who were disagreed is 4 percent, therefore, we will proceed with the suggestion.

Our Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow location is really near the beach. So, our staff could bring the elderly to take a fresh air at the beach. Elderly always love a beautiful scenery and fresh air, so it is a good activity to do as the elderly will not feel bored to just stay in the house. With sightseeing, this will strengthen their relationship. This is because they will spend time together each evening. As they walked, they certainly will interact with each other and talk a bit about themselves. They will also share their thoughts and stories about the things that they love to do. When they often spent time together, they will better get to know to each other. They will also feel comfortable to interact and thus will have compatibility.

Time together reduces loneliness and isolation and creates opportunities for positive communication and for creating family memories. While it is important to find time just to relax and talk with each other, doing activities together can set the stage for interaction. Other than that, by sharing problems together also strengthen the relationship between the elderly if done in a positive manner. They will be more closely when they are aware of the problems faced by others. The elderly have much to offer in their family experiences and in their history of family commitment. By sharing their family stories they are passing on the sense of continuity of which they have been a part. By being given the opportunity to share their experiences they receive a sense of belonging and a feeling of commitment from other family members.

our employees, we know that our employee agree if Berjaya provide someone that can take a good care of the elderly. We want to ensure that all elderly who are in the custody of our house will get adequate protection from us. We will always ensure that each elderly get the attention from a nurse. The elderly always wanted attention from others for a chat or help them in any daily business. So we will provide them what they need the most.

We want to ensure that older people who live in our house will receive adequate attention from our staff. Particularly those with chronic illness or cannot do daily routine by themselves. Every sick elderly will get a nurse to help them. This is because we want to ensure their health is protected and maintained. We have made a small scale questionnaire and been replied by our own employees. A total of 96 percent of our employees have agreed with our recommendations and 4 percent from it rejected the proposal that we provide. Elderly who are really helpless to do their routine by themselves are absolutely worth it to get a nurse for each of them to help them. For example, the nurse will help them to bathe them or feed them a meal. Nurses will always be there for them to entertain them.

Furthermore, from the small scale of our questionnaire, we found out that a total of 86 percent of our employees agreed to provide a nurse to take care of the elderly who are still healthy and able to perform their own daily activities by themselves. This is because the elderly are still able to perform the activities on their own without the help from the nurse. The elderly get what they need and to ensure that their want will be fulfilled. Eventhough the elderly have to shared their nurse, they will not feel abandon because they will still have friends to make them happy.

Moreover, elder people who are from the luxury life will often have someone who will assist and take care of them. They will really need someone to help them to do their daily routines. From our small scale of research, 9 percent from our employees agreed that most of the elderly needs a nurse as a caretaker to take care of him or her while only 3 percent from them disagree with the suggestion.

For this finding, we know that we will need to provide the nurses for the elderly our “Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow”. We believe that our workers were already agreed with this suggestion as they already answered our small scale research. According to Tutton (2014), elderly people just want to have someone to talk and listen to what they talk someone who could response to every question that they ask.

Elderly certainly need someone to care of and treat them well. We want to ensure that all muslims elderly who live under our elderly bungalow are all in the pink of health. We also want to make them feel more secure and they are happy when they are under the care of our nurses.

In the nutshell, Berjaya Corporation Berhad will build three units of Berjaya Vintage one-storey bungalow for the elderly. By doing this charity work, Berjaya could make the muslims elderly feel more actives, Berjaya also could provide a place for the muslims elderly to fill their leisure time and could strengthen the relationship between their newly acquainted. The three units of Berjaya Vintage one storey bungalow will be build at Padang Temu, Malacca.

Berjaya Corporation Berhad does not have any homes for the elderly. This is a new project for us as we want Malaysian known us for our good deed. Moreover, since 2011, Berjaya Corporation Berhad only does 4 charities with the elderly. We want to contribute in making the elderly to feel happy and smile again. Furthermore, the elderly will become less active due to their retirement. This is not good for their health as elder people need a regular exercise and a proper meal for them to keep in the pink of health. We also want to cheer the elderly by gather them around their friends. When they are lonely, the elderly will tend to feel depressed and if this situation are not changing, the elderly will fall sick. Berjaya Corporation Berhad really want to ensure that the elderly in Malaysia are all stress free by staying at our bungalows.

The objective of this project is to make the elderly to be more actives. This is why we schedule many interesting activites for the elderly in our bungalows. Moreover, we also will provide the elderly with many games for them to fill their leisure time. Elderly tend to have much time to wander around. So, Berjaya will provide them a place to fill up their leisure time. In this way, they will not wasting their precious time by just watching television or sleeping. Our bungalows also will strengthen the relationship between their newly acquainted. Apart from just seeing the same friends that they have, they will have new friends that they can communicate with in our bungalows.

The significance of the project is about the the elderly will feel more free than the people living in the retirement homes. This is because the elderly who live in our bungalows are paying higher rent to stay in our bungalows, so we do not want them to feel retained when they live in our bungalows. Besides, when they live in our house, they also could make their side income and do some business to fill up their time. For example, as we provide them with a green house, they could plant as many flowers as they want. After the flowers bloom, they could sell to the visitors who visit the bungalows or we could advertise it online. Berjaya want to provide a place for the elderly to associate among the each other. They could communicate with themselves without feeling lonely as in each bungalow, there will be 10 elderly in it. In addition, it is to provide a place to do a charity work. Berjaya will only use half from the 3.4 acres to build the 3 units of the bungalows. Half of the remaining land will be saved for charity work or rent it the public.

4.0 Recommendation

Due to the employees of Berjaya Corporation Berhad are made some suggestion and ideas based on the question in section C of our questionnaire. The following recommendations are others facilities that we should add in “Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow” are massage chair and counselling room. Besides that, other suggestion by our employees regarding to the indoor games that are suitable for the elderly are “Batu Seremban” and board games.

Massage Chair

Given that feedback from our employees has responses, Berjaya Corporation Berhad should provide massage chair for the elderly. With a massage chair, the elderly who facing with pain and stiffness in muscles and joints can helps reduce inflammation. Besides that, Berjaya Corporation Berhad will gain benefit by provide massage chair in our bungalow. For example, in some treatment programs for major illnesses such as cancer, spending time in a massage chair is highly recommended, since it is very effective for the elderly.

Counseling Room

Other recommendation from the survey is by provide counseling room for the elderly. The elderly who have economic hardships and personal problems can have their own session in our counseling room to make them easy in their life to feel overwhelming. We also will provide talking therapy session for them to gain supporter from our counselor. We will employed the best experience counselor for the elderly in our Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow. It is an opportunity to look at elderly’s problems in a different way with someone who’ll respect and encourage to give opinions and the decisions that the elderly could make. Therefore, Berjaya assume that the recommendationby build our own counseling room as a good suggestion for the elderly to stay healthy.

Batu Seremban

Most of our employees are recommend that “Batu Seremban” should be provide in Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow as the indoor games for the elderly. As “Batu Seremban” is the one of traditional game, Berjaya Corporation Berhad can keeping a nostalgia for the elderly to flashback their memory. Moreover, “Batu Seremban” can enhance the side of the brain or help develop certain motor skills of the elderly so that Berjaya can reduce rate of the elderly who face dementia problem.

Board Games

Board Games is one of the games that we should provide for the elderly in our Berjaya Vintage One-Storey Bungalow. Berjaya Corporation Berhad’s employees has states some of the board games that suitable for the elderly. For instance, chess, monopoly, crossword and puzzle. Playing board games is an excellent for old people to think logically, improve their visual perception because a lot of eye-to-eye coordination is paramount in playing the board games. Other than that, board games at times are silly and make them laugh while others, like chess, make them concentrate other their problems. It is also beneficial to stave off common dementia of memory loss related to the aging people. Moreover, with board games, it keeps the brain thinking, making decisions and memorizing. These processes give the brain a boost and, therefore, lengthen active memory for the elderly.
