Confessions The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available Saturdays at 4:15pm; First Friday at 6:00pm, and during adoration after 7pm Mass.

Sacrament of Baptism Contact the parish at least three months before the desired date of baptism. After contacting the office you will have a group interview with the pastor to discuss requirements, sacramental preparation and any other concerns you may have. Please consider starting the process during the pregnancy which will make the attendance to prep-class easier.

First Communion & Confirmation Program

Parents are asked to contact the office for information. Our programs begin in the fall (September or October) and end with the reception of the sacraments. To pre-register for next year’s program, please call the parish office in June so that your child is included in our list. Orientation will be given during the Summer months.

R.C.I.A. and R.C.I.C. Programs The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and for Children (RCIC) has now been implemented. Please contact the office to register and arrange to fill out an application for next year. The RCIA will only take place if a minimum of 5 people register.

Adult Confirmation Parishioners who have not made their First Communion and Confirmation and are now 18 years old and up are invited to sign up for our next adult Confirmation Class at the parish office. Proof of baptism is necessary for this program.

Sacrament of Matrimony Couples contemplating marriage at St. Jude’s parish are required to make contact with the parish office and review the marriage package before an interview with the priest. Diocesan regulation demands that marriages are booked one year in advance minimum.

MASS INTENTIONS In today’s Gospel, we can tell that Jesus’ followers are troubled. Their teach-er and friend is explaining that he will be leaving them very soon, and they are worried and anxious because they don’t know what the future will bring. So he comforts them by letting them know they will not be abandoned. He gives them a great gift: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”

“Whoever loves me you will keep my word”

In the sixth Sunday of Easter Jesus tells the Apostles and all of us “If you love me you will keep my word” John 14:15. And what does it mean? “if you love me you will keep my word”, does this mean that every time we do not come to church on Sunday or when we sin we do not love Jesus? That is correct, that is truth. When we sin we are giving ourselves to something other than Jesus or to somebody other than Jesus. If we love Jesus more than anything else, we will make a great effort to come to Mass and keep ourselves free from sin. In Matthew 22:37 Jesus says “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”. When we love Jesus with all our heart, soul, mind and strength we will not want to put any-thing, no matter how big or small before Jesus. “If you love me you will keep my command-ment”. Sometimes we make statements like, “Jesus understands that I am human. He will forgive me.” That is truth, Jesus is love and is forgiving, there is no doubt of Jesus’ mercy. But if we love Jesus more than anything we will put Jesus before whatever it is that is tempting us to commit a sin and we will re-move that sin from of our lives entirely. We cannot have both love of Jesus and sin in our lives at the same time. As Jesus says in Matt 6:24, “we cannot be the slave of two mas-ters”. My brothers and sisters, let us keep Jesus as the centre of our lives, that He will reign in our hearts forever, and also, let us never be afraid to turn to Jesus for mercy after sinning, He is always waiting to forgive us and restore us. Toronto’s newest priests Archdiocese of Toron-to celebrates ordination of two

“Men in Black”. Two men were ordained to the priesthood to serve the faithful of the Archdiocese of Toron-to on Saturday, April 30. Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, presided at the ceremony, which took place at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Cathedral. These candidates have undergone a minimum five years of extensive spiritual for-mation, theological educa-tion and field training in preparation for priest-ly ministry. Following their ordination, they will be assigned to one of 225 parishes in the archdiocese, which stretches from Oshawa to Mississauga and north to Georgian Bay. The “Class of 2016” includes:

Earthquake in Ecuador Toronto-area Catholics are responding to the humanitarian crisis in Ecuador with prayer and practical aid following the catastrophic effects of a serious earth-quake on April 16. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake and aftershocks have devas-tated huge areas of Ecuador, with nearly 600 people reported dead, 5,700 injured and 24,000 families left homeless. Con-tributions can be made through our par-ishes and through the Archdiocese of Toronto online portal at www.archtoronto.org. Relief workers from the official Catholic relief agency, Caritas International are on the ground and assessing the need for assistance. Caritas teams are expected to begin dis-tributing tarps, hygiene and cooking kits. There is also a need for tents and inflata-ble boats because roads to some of the affected areas are impassable. In the coming weeks and months, Caritas will assess longer-term shelter needs. The situation is very difficult in the affected regions, as poverty had already left peo-ple living in precarious conditions. Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:
