Dear Reader,

In the 1980s, Chinese doctors made an amazing discovery...

While using an ancient herbal medicine to treat diarrhea in a diabetes patient,they accidentally uncovered its power to considerably reduce and normalize hisblood sugar (glucose) levels.

They discovered the most successful type 2 diabetes treatment in the world...and Chinese doctors have been using it ever since.

Why haven't you heard of it?

Well, the drug companies and the mainstream media that relies on theiradvertising dollars have no incentive to promote an all-natural diabetestreatment that can't be patented for profit and that anyone can buy for penniesper dose.

Today, I want to change all that. I want you to know about the powerful herbcalled berberine.

Not only does berberine fight diabetes, it can help you slim down, and protectyou from heart disease and Alzheimer's. So even if you don't have diabetes, ordon't think you have a blood sugar problem, I still recommend it.

Truth is, we all have blood sugar issues to one degree or another. Our food ispacked with sugar and sugar substitutes, and it's a threat to you even if younever develop full-blown diabetes.

Over time, high blood-sugar levels damage the body's tissues and organs,leading to serious complications, including heart and blood vessel disease; severenerve, kidney, eye and foot damage; hearing impairment; and Alzheimer'sdisease.

Most doctors try to lower blood sugar with the popular prescription drugmetformin (the generic form of the patented drug Glucophage.) But metforminhas a long list of nasty side effects, such as dizziness; fatigue; cardiovascularreactions; acute infections of the eyes, ears and throat; flu-like symptoms; andanemia.1

Metformin has also been linked to lactic acidosis, a rare but deadly complicationthat proves fatal in 50% of cases.2

Thankfully, nature has given us a superior alternative in berberine.

Berberine is a plant phytonutrient extracted from a number of medicinal herbs,such as barberry and goldenseal. And its performance in human type 2 diabetes

clinical trials has been simply amazing.

Berberine works in a few different ways. It decreases insulin resistance, makingthe blood sugar lowering hormone insulin more effective. It also increasesglycolysis, helping the body break down sugars inside cells. And it decreasessugar production in the liver.3

I've seen patients in my wellness center lower their blood sugar taking one 500mg capsule two to three times a day with food. I usually prescribe berberine topatients on its own, but if you need extra help, you can safely add other mineralsand nutrients that help control blood sugar like chromium, vanadium, or greencoffee bean extract.

A dose of 1,000 mg to 1,500 mg is effective for most people, and that's what thestudies show as well. I wouldn't go higher than that unless you speak with yourdoctor first.

One study of diabetic patients who took 1,000 mg of berberine per day loweredfasting blood sugar levels by more than 20%, from diabetic to normal levels.4 This same study also showed that berberine lowered hemoglobin A1c (a criticalmarker for long-term blood sugar levels) by 21%.

And a comprehensive scientific review of 14 different berberine studies revealedthat it was as effective at treating type 2 diabetes as metformin, with one hugeadvantage: Berberine had no nasty side effects.5

Berberine is so potent, it may also...

Lower your cholesterol;

Trim down your waist size;

Inhibit the growth of certain cancers;

Lower homocysteine, a big risk factor for heart disease;

Block the enzyme that zaps your testosterone.

To your good health,

Al Sears, MD, CNS
