BENGALURU TECH SUMMIT 2019 Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology, Government of Karnataka

hosted ‘22nd edition of BENGALURU TECH SUMMIT, the umbrella event for Karnataka’s two

flagship events; BengaluruITE.biz and Bengaluru INDIA BIO. The focal theme of the

event was ‘Innovation & Impact 2.0’ and it was held between 18thto 20th November, 2019 at

Bengaluru Palace, Bengaluru.

The International Conference at Bengaluru Tech Summit 2019 was a vision brought to life by Industry Veterans and Thought Leaders who deliberated on the challenges, advancements and emerging trends in the fields of IT & BT. With notable Keynote Speakers, Technical Experts, Researchers and Global Innovation Alliance Partners, there was a confluence of global knowledge with technology transfer. There were 44 sessions conducted in Smart IT, Smart Bio and Global Innovation Alliances off which 10 sessions were conducted by international partner countries – Finland, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Israel, Germany, Japan, Sweden. Innovation, especially leveraging

disruptive technologies, is the need of the hour. Through the sessions, panels and presentations, a platform was created for exchange of knowledge and ideas. There was a session conducted on the GIA Market Access Program which saw multi-county participation part of the same panel – Australia, Germany and The Netherlands. Some of the sessions conducted by the international partners intensified the relationship and helped in furthering the ecosystem of Karnataka. Switzerland’s session on “Unlocking the potential of Blockchain", Netherlands session on “Digital technologies to transform commercial aerospace" and Germany’s session on “Artificial Intelligence – Driver of Sustainability" are some of the sessions that were conducted not only to highlight the technological strengths in these countries but have also opened gates to supplement the collaboration between Karnataka and the partner country.

Prestigious awards of STPI presented to the IT Industry of Karnataka, based on their Export performance for the 2017-2018 financial year. For the selection of the Award, an Eminent Jury had been constituted comprising of Members from Industry, Academia, Media and Government. Total 38 number of Awards were given to the winners.

SmartBio Awards introduced for very first time with the sole purpose of recognizing Biotechnology Firms in 6 sectors. These chosen organisations have shown dynamic leadership, stand-out contribution characterized by breakthrough innovation, top-class execution and fast paced-growth. Individual Investors and Mentors who have made significant contribution supporting exiting technologies, nurturing innovative ideas and product development were recognized by conferring SmartBio Awards. The 20th edition of the Rural IT Quiz program was organized by Tata Consultancy Services witnessed a thrilling National Final. The National winners received a glittering trophy & TCS educational scholarship of Rs. 1,00,000/- and the Runners-up received Rs 50,000/-. All the finalists also received an array of prizes, in addition to the TCS cash scholarship of Rs 10,000/- they had won at the State Finals.

The 11th Edition of the annual State Bio Quiz conducted by MM Activ witnessed a keen contest amongst all the finalists. Preliminaries’ were conducted across Karnataka where-in 872 contestants participated. After an enthralling quiz competition, all the teams were rewarded with exciting cash prizes as mentioned below.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION 3 days of Bengaluru Tech Summit concluded with a Grand Valedictory Function graced by all the stakeholders. On this occasion, there was a Release of Elevate Winners Showcase Book by Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for IT, BT and S&T and Higher Education & Medical Education, Government of Karnataka. An Inspiring and Visionary Keynote Valedictory Address was delivered by Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan. His address depicted commitment to this sector by his Government and promised full support in all possible ways. He also announced dates for BTS 2020 and asked all stakeholders, mainly international ones to block their calendar immediately. Guest of Honour for this evening was Mr. Timo Harakka, Minister of Employment, Ministry of Economy and Employment, Government of Finland who also gave an address.

There was also an Address by Dr. E.V.
