Alliance Lifeline – Key features
BNL forum March 2014 - Alliance Lifeline & Sanctions screening 6
Cost-effective ‘cold standby’ connection to SWIFT (based on Alliance Lite2)
Secure Internet connection from any location; option to connect over SWIFT VPN
Global 24/7/365 connection activation on request – GUI always available
Easy-to-use browser-based screens; light footprint
Deployed from SWIFT Operating Centre for maximum availability and resilience
Basic message reconciliation – copy of messages exchanged over Lifeline during
outage, report of last sent messages before outage available upon request
Alliance Lifeline could be right for you if …
• Inability to exchange SWIFT messages for a long period of time
could have severe financial or reputational consequences for your
business
• Inability to send SWIFT messages at the wrong moment (e.g. just
before a cut-off) could have severe consequences
• It takes a time to start up your normal disaster site, and you need
to increase your protection against short outages
• You operate multiple BICs for remote locations (head office) and
you want additional protection in case the connection between the
remote location and the head-office is down
• You need an alternative connection in order to comply with
regulatory requirements
• You like the flexibility of having a subscription-based emergency
connection without the need for additional upfront investment

Two Lifeline flavours
• Standard
– FIN only (& Browse & RMA)
– No support for InterAct or FileAct
– Dormant, customer must request activation to SWIFT to
login/select FIN LT max. 1.5 hours to activate
• This also activates the customer’s ability to initiate a Browse session, and
activates his ability to send & receive RMA messages over Lifeline
• Premium
– Support for all services (FIN, Browse, RMA, InterAct, FileAct)
– Always ready to send zero wait time to activate sending – FIN : dedicated LT always logged in & selected for ‘input’ (for sending)
– InterAct/FileAct : emission profiles always enabled for sending
– Browse : customer operator can always use Lite2 GUI to open Browse session
– Dormant reception, customer must request activation of
reception to SWIFT max. 1.5 hour to activate reception
– Multiple activation scenarios can be pre-defined

Alliance Lifeline – Free use of GUI
• The Alliance Lifeline user interface (Lite2 browser-based screens) is
always available, no need to request activation, no daily usage fee
applies to use the GUI (for Standard and Premium)
• Which means the following activities are always possible, and are
not charged :
– Enter templates
– Import/export RMA records
– Enter messages
• Note: if messages remain in an uncompleted state (e.g. draft, ready-to-send …)
for more than 14 days, they will be automatically aborted (completed)
– Upload or download files (over AutoClient or over the browser)
– Message searching & printing
