The electives would be used in completing requirements in a second major. ***Students majoring in French are required to study abroad. The department offers programs in Angers, France and in Paris. They must complete either an academic semester abroad for 15 hours credit, or a 9-week summer program for 12 hours. The requirement for the French major is 7 courses (21 hours) beyond 203. The above program is a suggested outline for how a transfer student might fulfill the general education and major requirements within 8 semesters. An individual student’s course of study would be carefully planned with an advisor to best suit the student’s own needs.

There are two very popular Spanish programs abroad: one in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and the other in Seville, Spain. Students may go either during the summer or during the semester in which case they will take fewer courses at Benedictine. Students are required to take seven more courses beyond the Intermediate II for a major in Spanish. (See proposed schedule above). The course offerings are suggestions which may be modified to fit the student’s needs.
