Operation Readiness Manager (05/2007-12/2008)(Senior Network Engineer / Project Manager)

Network Design Identified network delivery risks for the State of Tennessee’s health delivery system

and addressed their legacy solution inadequacies by integrating their existing network with a new MPLS architecture and design, enabling them to expand their services to over 4500 health care providers.

Translated business requirements into technical deliverables to clarify network designs for network delivery teams, and incorporated EDS standard network products that reduced installation cost by 20%.

Pre-Sales Support Created the WAN/LAN architectural design for a new Data Center as part of the pre-

sales support for the US Army. The new Data Center design emphasized best practices that required “five 9’s High Availability” (99.999%) secure interconnectivity between other data centers in addition to hosting applications for thousands of users.

Oversaw the pre-sales engineering activity for the Texas Juvenile Detention video monitoring project which consisted of a solution that provided inmate monitoring, remote access for authorities, and data storage for video evidence of all of juvenile detainees in Texas.

Network Service Delivery

Page 3: Ben Smith IT Director 6-19-2015

Acted as the primary point of contact for transitioning RJ Reynolds’ network operations into EDS’s managed services and identified project risks, provided risk mitigations, and trained employees on multiple network operation tools.

Managed the implementation of routers, switches, and firewalls for Fairmont Inc., Susan G Komen, State of Tennessee, and more than 20 others. The projects included creating DMZ’s, MPLS, point-to-point circuits, Co-Lo sites, disaster recovery (DR) sites, and VPNs.

Network Monitoring Project Planning Managed the delivery of network services for the AHOLD group with a solution that

interconnected 76 stores to headquarters for HR services, and centralized POS interconnectivity through a new MPLS solution, reducing WAN costs by 30%.

Coordinated the delivery of network monitoring and management services for 20,000 network devices for the British Petroleum account by working with the Firewall Security team, NOC team, and the Customer Account team to plan network changes, order interconnectivity access, and gather device information.

Telecommunication Solution Design Designed an MPLS solution for Molson Coors, which reduced cost, added

redundancy, and enabled the ability to deploy VoIP by replacing point to point circuits between data centers, plants, and offices

Oversaw the engineering and installations of metro Ethernet, OC3’s, DS3’s, T1’s, and T1’s for multiple clients.

Business Development Manager (2005 – 2007)(Network Project Manager)

Client Contact Supported Sabre client network change requests by working closely with the EDS

delivery team and Sabre, the client, to translate business requirements into technical deliverables and to keep stakeholders updated with weekly project reports.

Acted as the liaison between the client, Management, and Network Delivery on network Move/Add/Change (MAC) request to install VoIP, F5 remote support Network access, and window servers.

Client VoIP Project Implemented a VoIP Cisco solution in 60+ remote Sabre offices in the U.S., EMEA,

Asia Pacific, and Latin America. Project included upgrading Cisco Call Manager, routers and circuits, ensuring a managed corporate solution for Sabre.

Client Network Projects Guided the network delivery team in the development of secure remote access for F5

hardware support by utilizing a current remote access service instead of a stand-alone solution, saving the client over $600,000.

Coordinated the installation of Dell, HP, and SUN servers into Sabre’s dedicated Data Center, fulfilling Sabre’s work request without any service interruption.

Infrastructure Specialist Senior (2001 – 2005)(Senior Enterprise Network Architect / Senior Network Engineer)
