Belz,my little town of BelzMy home, where my childhood days passedBelz,my home town of Belz
In a small and simple roomWhere I would sit and laugh with all the children.
I would run with my prayer book every ShabbatTo the banks of the river,And sit under the green tree.

THE NEW BELZ COMPLEXTHE NEW BELZ COMPLEX
Belz is a Hasidic dynasty named for the townof Belz inWestern Ukraine, near the Polishborder. At the beginning ofWorldWar II,Belz had 6,100 inhabitants, of which 3,600were Jewish.
The founder of the dynasty was RabbiShalom Rokeach, also known as the SarShalom, who was inducted as rabbi of Belzin 1817. He personally helped build the city'slarge and imposing synagogue. Dedicated in1843, the building resembled an ancientfortress, with 3-foot-thick (0.91 m)walls, a castellated roof andbattlements adorned with gildedcopper balls. It could seat 5,000congregants and had superb acoustics.
It stood until the Nazis invaded Belz inlate 1939.Though the Germansattempted to destroy the synagoguefirst by fire and then by dynamite, theywere unsuccessful. Finally theyconscripted Jewish men to take thebuilding apart, brick by brick.
THE COMPLEX BUILT WILL BE AVILLAGE IN ITSELF.THE COMPLEX BUILT WILL BE AVILLAGE IN ITSELF.
Remembering the Holocaust andits devastation and pain causedis paramount for our present andfuture generations, especially sincethe numbers of Survivors are now
diminishing. By bridging the gapbetween the generations, wetrust the pain can heal.
We have actively come togetherto rebuild a mini BELZ,whereby the elderly and theyoung will be united physically, emotionally and spiritually.
A Building Project is underwaydedicated to the Holocaust andits losses.
The Belz Community serves1,500 families and this newbuild will serve 4000 people. The project costs are £5,000,000and completion date is scheduledfor November 2015. Stage BY Stage development in mo on

THE PAIN OF THE HOLOCAUSTPainful memories linger far longer than age andyartzeit. The atrocities were enormous, babies, childrenwomen, denied life; gas chambers and crematoria.
Jews have all been affected and memories ingrained.Let us build together and preserve the memories of ourloved one and give our children and youth opportunitiesto rebuild and develop.
