THANK YOU TO THE STAFF AND PARENTS Following a successful Awards Day assembly we finish today with the finalisation of our External Validation. Viewed by two ex-ternal educators, as well as our Rel. Director, Jann Pattenson, Principal of Davidson HS the panel met today to discuss our find-ings and to confirm our final judgements against the School Excellence Framework. This has been a worthwhile experience. Teachers spend many hours outside their teaching day crafting lessons and the associated activities and resources as well as attend a number of meetings a week. I thank them for their collegial work. Thank you to Mrs Cohen, our Learning and Support Teaching who has been leading our support programs. These programs specifically target students requiring additional support. Thank you to Mrs Judson, Mrs Maye and Mrs Watson for providing learning support to a number of students as well as our out-standing administration staff of Liz, Nicky, Anne and Caroline who superbly liaise with all of our parent members as well as or-ganise all administrative and financial transactions within the school. Thank you to the parents for assisting with Literacy groups, MultiLit programs, the uniform shop, canteen, banking, library and to Jo Stracey and our P&C. LIBRARY NEWS Stage 2 students visited the library yesterday and viewed some work complet-ed by Stage 3 students. This term Stage 3 students have been studying a 2019 Children's Book Council Shortlisted book. They have been looking at the mood, setting, themes, language used, style, characterisation and plot struc-ture. They then made an imovie based on these books. Stage 3 students read the book and then showed the iMovie to Stage 2 students. Well done every-one. I hope you enjoy your holidays, keep reading and I will see you next term. "Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed and some to be chewed and digested " Sir Francis Bacon 1561-1626 Ms Wedlock Teacher-librarian

From Term 3 we are asking all families to start to save your bread tags. The bread

tags will be sent to a recycling plant in South Australia to be made into door knobs,

coasters and floor tiles. The proceeds from the sale of these products will go to-

wards the less fortunate in South Africa to purchase wheelchairs.

Please leave all bread tags in the jar located in the school office!

CANTEEN NEWS

P&C Wishing you a wonderful and safe holidays. FAIR MEETING Tonight at the Belrose Hotel at 7.15pm. All welcome.

Jo Stracey CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS - TERM 3 There are still 6 spots to be filled. All of these are Fridays and unfortu-nately it is the day where we require two volunteers. Hours are from 9am to 1.30pm. Please, if you have not already done so, sign up. There are a couple of Fridays where we have no volunteers at all, so if you would like to do this with a friend, please sign up for them (all you need is their name, email and mobile number). This will ensure you both get the same slot. Remember the canteen can not operate without the help of volunteers. So, if you are a new parent to the school, this is a great way to get involved. Don't be shy, it's really easy and the best part is, your child will love seeing you in the canteen, plus we’ll even throw in a coffee and a dim sim. If you can help out, please click on the link to sign up: https://volunteersignup.org/LCWWX FLEXISCHOOLS FIRST CANTEEN ORDERING DAY IS: WEDNESDAY 24 JULY Lots of super excited and happy parents have already gone online to register for Flexischools. Some eager parents have even placed their first online orders for Wednesday 24 July. Registering for Flexischools is super easy and once you have loaded funds, you’re ready to start ordering. Attached to this newsletter is the flyer that explains how to register for Flexischools. So if you are yet to register, please do so now. It is important you’re all set up ready to start ordering for Term 3. BROWN PAPER LUNCH BAGS Now that we’re moving to online ordering, the school will be supplying the lunch orders in paper bags. If you no longer have a need for your left over brown paper lunch bags at home, we will gladly take them off your hands. If you would like to donate your spare brown paper lunch bags, please drop them off to the office or canteen. CANTEEN MENU – TERM 3 Attached is the revised canteen menu effective Term 3, 2019. Unfortunately, the majority of our suppliers have had a price in-crease from 1 July and whilst we have tried to minimise increases, we are unable to absorb some of them. A couple of main counter line increases are Red Rock chips now $1.50 and Lemonade Ice Block now $1.50. Any questions in relation to the Canteen, please email [email protected]
