Types of Manufacturing:

1. Custom Manufacturing:

- making one product by hand, or making one-of-a-kind products

- used for small numbers

- typically produced to customers specifications

- requires skilled workers

- most expensive

- often performed in a general shop

- more efficient than custom manufacturing

- workers are not as skilled

- using complex machines that can quickly be adjusted to

4. Continuous Manufacturing:

- produces a large number of one product

- produces a steady flow of products (assembly line)

- workers are least skilled

- specialized machines are used
