One Minute for London PE News

This week, we held a one minute silence for tragic events in London last week. Year 11 students remained in the Main Hall after their exams and all other pupils marked the tragedy in their classrooms. The fire alarm was sounded to start the silence and it was sounded a second time (after 60 seconds) to end the commemoration. We commemorate this tragedy especially because it has happened in our country, in our home – the UK and so we feel it acutely. As Muslims - and as humans – we of course feel the pain of ALL people who are suffering worldwide. During the silence, staff and pupils prayed for all those so horribly affected by the attack and we also prayed for all human beings from all societies, from all faiths, who are also suffering pain and injustice throughout the world. As we make the most of Ramadhan, we pray to Allah Almighty to grant wisdom to our leaders, patience to all peoples so that justice prevails and peace reigns supreme, Aameen.

On Wednesday 7th June, the following pupils attended the Y3/Y4 Athletics Competition at Oasis Academy Hobmoor:

3b 4a 4b

Aisha N | Yusuf S | Maryam A

Aishah Bint M | Zakariya K

Harith K | Yunus Y | Aasiyah H |

Harith K, in 4b, won the gold medal for the 50m Sprint at the event; he ran the race in the quickest time of 8 seconds – WOW! There were 50 other competitors who took part – Masha’Allah and well done Harith!

As well as Harith winning gold at the 50m sprint; Yunus Y, Yusuf S and Harith were also awarded Passion Badges by the Leaders for their enthusiasm at the event. All the pupils tried their best and put 100% effort into their performances, may Allah (SWT) reward them, Aameen.

Attendance & Punctuality Riddle of the Week!

Attendance is very important and all schools are judged on this. The national target is 95%. During Ramadhan gates open from 9:20 am, Insha’Allah. Gates close at 9:30 am and pupils are late if they arrive after this time. Secondary students are issued with a break time detention for lateness.

Taqwa & Fasting

In the institution of fasting there are many benefits both for the individual and the society. In fact, the prescribed Islamic `Ibadat, (acts of worship) are in man’s own welfare, and not any benefit to Almighty Allah. Allah (SWT) is not like the so-called rulers and kings of the world who can be pleased just by a word of praise or an act of apparent obedience. He is not dependent on our service. His commands are not for His own gain but only in the interest of the believers themselves. The Qur’an says:

“We bestowed wisdom upon Luqman, (enjoining): ‘Give thanks to Allah.’ Whoso gives thanks to Allah, does so to his own good. And whoso disbelieves (let him know that) Allah is All-Sufficient, Immensely Praiseworthy.”

(Luqman, 31:12)

All glory belongs to Him whether anyone glorifies Him or not. He sends His commands to guide His servants so that they may succeed in this world and in the Hereafter. One of the prayers mentioned in the Qur’an is as follows:

“There are others who say: ‘Our Lord, grant us what is good in this world and what is good in the World to Come, and protect us from the chastisement of the Fire.’” ( Al-Baqarah 2:201)

The main purpose of fasting mentioned in the Qur’an is taqwa. It says:

“Believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you become God-fearing.” (Al-Baqarah, 2:183)

The Qur’an also says:

“Neither their flesh reaches Allah nor their blood; it is your piety that reaches Him. He has subjected these animals (to you) that you may magnify Allah for the guidance He has bestowed upon you. Give glad

tidings, (O Prophet), to those who do good.” (Al-Hajj 22:37)

The word `taqwa` means fear, precaution and God consciousness. In the Shari`ah it means fear of God and avoidance of disobedience to Him. It includes sincerity and purity of one’s heart from all evil, and intentional adoption of righteousness, piety and good conduct. May Allah (SWT) enable to develop taqwa through fkasting and other acts of worship especially during the month of Ramadhan, Aameen.

Ramadhan 1438H

All Praise is due to Allah, the Most Great! Subhan’Allah, the Month of Mercy has arrived – we are truly blessed to have the opportunity to cleanse our souls, strengthen our imaan and increase our ibadah. All parents/guardians are requested to monitor their children’s tarbiyyah during this month, paying particular attention to prayers, Qur’an recitation, manners and spiritual development. Throughout this holy month, we wish to encourage our pupils to gain all the benefits of Ramadhan and spending their time in ibadah, Insha’Allah. To assist in this, we have of course altered timetables and the school day to a later start. A reminder:

Time Scheduled

8:20 am Ramadhan Club – must be registered

9:20 am Gates Open – all other pupils

9:30 am Morning Registration

3:30 pm Home-Time

Please note that a letter has already been distributed with details of the Ramadhan timings – please refer to this for further information, Insha’Allah. We once again take this opportunity to wish you all a truly blessed Ramadhan for the remaining days – may Allah (SWT) accept our good deeds, du’as and ibadah, Aameen.

Medical Information Parent Volunteers

All parents/guardians please inform the school of any allergy/medical conditions your child may suffer from.

NO NUTS! For the safety of all our pupils, please do NOT send any nuts into school. A lot of our children are allergic to nuts and this measure will help to prevent cross contamination, Insha'Allah. Jazak'Allah hu khayrun for your support in this.

We need your expertise and help! We are looking for parent volunteers to assist the school in the Library, book fairs, trips, fundraisers, events, or in any other way. If you can offer your help or know someone who can volunteer, please contact the Main Office with your details. A letter with further details has been issued and is also available on our website, Insha’Allah.
