It also beautifully adds to elevating imagination, broadening perspectives and enriching the vocabulary of children. I encourage all of our Palisades families to keep the minds of your children enriched and exercised while enjoying shared reading with our One School, One Book: Flora & Ulysses. On February 28 th , every student at Palisades will be participating in a celebration during Buddies time as a culminating event. Have a wonderful weekend! Make your voice heard! The first step in a new project called Gretna Heart and Soul, a grass-roots effort started by community leaders, is a survey now posted in printable flyers. Our goal is to discover and articulate what the people of Gretna love about our community so that we may build upon those things today and in the future. If you live within the Gretna Public School district, are considering moving here, or have lived here in the past; we want to hear from you. Please share your thoughts and opinions with us by completing this brief survey. It will take less than five minutes to complete. The information we collect through this survey will form the foundation for the entire project--and Gretna's future. TONIGHT!! We are already making plans for the 2020-21 kindergarten students and their families. If you know of someone who has recently moved into the Gretna/Palisades area, and has a child that would be of age to start kindergarten (must turn 5 on or before July 31, 2020), please ask them to contact the school office at 895-2194. Gretna Public Schools will be holding a Preschool Open House Night on

Thursday, February 20th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. We will soon be accepting

applications for the 2020-2021 School Year.

If your child is three or four years old by July 31, 2020, they are eligible to attend.

Come visit our four-year-old Preschool classrooms at: Gretna Elementary, Thomas Elementary, Whitetail Creek Elementary,

Palisades Elementary, & Aspen Creek Elementary.

Come visit our three-year-old Preschool classrooms at: Gretna Elementary.

You can visit and take a tour, learn about our curriculum, and meet the preschool teachers.

Preschoolers are welcome to attend. This is an open house, so you may come and go any time between the hours of 5:00 p.m.

and 6:30 p.m.

We hope to see you on Thursday, February 20th!

Show someone you care and send a Valentine Candy Gram! Print and fill out the flyer attached in the printable flyer section and return to your school office! The Valentine Candy Grams need to be turned in by Tuesday, February 11th! Your Valentine will get the candy delivered to them on February 14th at school. This fundraiser supports Gretna High School Post Prom! Thank You!

**Parent Reminder**

Student tardiness has increased. The school day starts at 8:00am and children should be seated in their classrooms ready to learn at that time. There is supervision in the commons starting at 7:25am.

Please make it a priority to get your children to school on time.
