ANCILLARY TASK – CREATE A POSTER FOR DOCUMENTARY FILM
One of the ancillary tasks for my documentary was to create a poster advertising my film.
First Draft.
Final Product

SIMILAR DOCUMENTARY POSTERS.
I decided that if I were to show my documentary that it would be most appropriate for channel four, as channel four has a strong reputation for real-life documentaries broadcasting factual and current affairs. channel four also have a reputation for education related documentaries. Similar programs with the same content like Educating Yorkshire and Educating Essex were also shown on channel four. I looked at poster for the similar documentaries and followed a similar format/layout for my own documentary poster.

CHANNEL FOUR STYLE GUIDE
After deciding to stream my documentary on Channel 4 I looked at several other Channel Four posters in order to get an idea about what looks effective and suitable for a Channel Four show.
I used the style guide, as a guide as to what would be appropriate.
Channel four style guide.
I used the style guide as accurately as possible when creating my poster, however I intentionally did not follow some of the style guide as I believe it made my poster look much more effective.

HOW I USED THE STYLE GUIDE OF COLOUR.
I used the closest colour possible to channel four purple 'Pantone 2602' in the colour pallet, however I slightly adapted the colour to a colour in my image, as I wanted it to match the colour of the students ties. I believed it would look most effect making my poster colour coordinated and attracting attention to the students smart uniform.

STYLE GUIDE(LOGO)I intentionally did not follow the rule of not distorting the logo as I found several channel four posters where the logo is distorted and I believed that it looked much more effective to distort my logo for the purpose of my documentary poster. My documentary logo and a channel fours poster logo is shown below. This is the design I decided to follow for the appearance of my logo.

STYLE GUIDE(IMAGERY)I decided to use this imagery of my poster, as I believed it to be eye catching and closely linked to my documentary as the picture is of students from a school, which was introduced in my documentary. I personally think that the significance of the bright purple ties against the other pale/dark colours makes the picture eye catching.
