“The recovery process is the way in which a person actively manages their substance use disorder with efforts to reclaim a full and meaningful life in the community. Recovery is a personal process of growth and change which embraces hope, autonomy and the elements that result in re-establishing a satisfying and productive life.”

Kresina, Lubran (2011) Improving public health through access to and utilization of medication assisted treatment.
