Read on for details . . .

Brookfield Zoo Share the Care 27 Years and Counting!! Walker has been adopting an animal at Brookfield Zoo for the past 27 years by collecting monetary donations from Walker families! It takes $300 to sponsor Kasha, an amur leopard. Our support helps the caretakers at the zoo to continue to provide quality food and expert care for her. Please place money in a plastic bag and send it to school with your child. Money will be collected by door supervisors at each entry door. Students will receive a compassion heart for the donation! Thank you! Support HCS Family Services Hope, Compassion, Support This organization provides services to over 3,700 low-income individuals living in Southeast DuPage County, including the Villages of Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Burr Ridge, Westmont, Willowbrook and Oak Brook. STYLUS PENS Thanks to the PTO’s wonderful fundraising efforts and the generosity of our Walker families, each student in Grades 1-5 will receive a stylus to use with the iPad for learning. We have found that the stylus offers greater precision for classwork on the iPad. Students in Grades 2-5 are receiving their styluses this week with a short introduction on how to use them and take care of them. As a reminder, these are district-issued technology tools, like their iPads, so students need to be responsible

for their proper use and care. Over the course of the school year, if you find that your child needs to repair or replace the stylus, please contact your child’s teacher. REMOTE STUDENTS: Pick up your child’s stylus (Grades 1-5 only) from the Walker School entryway (8am-3:30pm. Each stylus has been packaged in a plastic bag, marked with your child’s name and placed on the table in the foyer. DINNER BELL #2

For more information on VNA Healthcare tests, click here. WHEN YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT The procedure for reporting your child absent from school is different this year; do not call the school attendance line. YOU SHOULD KNOW IMPORTANT COVID PROCEDURES There are two items we’d like to highlight for you. • Attendance Please use the links provided on the home page of the D181 website to report your child’s absence. • COVID You should be aware that if your child is home (or sent home) with COVID symptoms, all siblings must remain at home as well, per the District Health & Safety Guidelines (pertinent question and answer copied below): Q: IF A STUDENT IS SENT HOME SICK WITH SUSPECTED COVID-19 SYMPTOMS (E.G., RUNNY NOSE, FEVER, DIARRHEA, ETC.), MUST ALL THEIR SIBLINGS/HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS BE SENT HOME AS WELL AND QUARANTINED FOR 14 CALENDAR DAYS? Yes, if one of the household members is being evaluated for COVID-19, the rest of the household must be quarantined until an alternative diagnosis is made or a negative result received. If the sick student becomes a confirmed case (i.e., tests positive for COVID-19) or a probable case (i.e., has COVID-like symptoms and is epidemiologically linked to known case), the local health department (LHD) conducting contact tracing will place household contacts, including siblings, in quarantine for 14 calendar days. The health department also will provide guidance on how to safely quarantine and isolate within the household.
