Constructing HST blocks 1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 9" x 9" fabric 1 square. Place square, right sides together, on (1) 9" x 9" fabric 2 square. Sew 1/4" away from, on right and left sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line. Open and press to yield (2) HST blocks. Align diagonal seams of HST blocks against 45 degree line on quilting ruler, and trim blocks to measure 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" raw edge to raw edge.

Open and press to reveal fabric 2 corner triangle. Make a total of (8) units.

2. Block center. Sew together (2) modified HST units to make a column unit. Make (2) column units and sew to the left and right sides of (1) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" fabric 2 square to make a row unit.

Sew together (2) modified HST units, and add (2) 2" x 2" fabric 1 squares to the opposite short sides to make a row unit. Make a total of (2) row units.

Sew together row units to complete block center.

3. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" fabric 2 square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of (1) 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" fabric 1 rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal fabric 2 corner triangle.

Make a total of (2) units, and (2) mirror-imaged units. Sew together (1) unit and (1) mirror-imaged unit. Make a total of (2) sewn units and add to the right and left sides of block center.

Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" fabric 2 square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of (1) 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" fabric 1 rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal fabric 2 corner triangle.

Make a total of (2) units, and (2) mirror-imaged units.

Sew together (1) unit and (1) mirror-imaged unit. Make a total of (2) sewn units and add to the top and bottom of block center to complete (1) block. Block should measure 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" raw edge to raw edge.

Make a total number of star blocks for following fabric 1 / fabric 2 combinations: DOVE and MIST colorways 8 blocks: G8565-White Gold / P7618-Charcoal Silver 4 blocks: G8565-White Gold / R7681-Bark Silver Constructing 8" star quadrants 1. Modified HST units. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 4" x 4" fabric 1 square. Place square, right sides together, on (1) 4" x 4" fabric 2 square. Sew 1/4" away from, on right and left sides of drawn line. Cut along drawn line to yield (2) HST units. Align diagonal seams of HST units against 45 degree line of quilting ruler, trim units to measure 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" raw edge to raw edge. Draw a diagonal line on (1) 2" x 2" fabric 2 square. Place square, matching the corners and right sides together, on the fabric 1 triangle of previously made HST unit. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal fabric 2 corner triangle.

Make a total of (2) units. 2. Sew together, (2) modified HST units, (1) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" fabric 1 square and (1) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" fabric 3 square into a 4-patch unit, as shown.

3. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 2" x 2" fabric 2 square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of (1) 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" fabric 1 rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal fabric 2 corner triangle, as shown.

Add unit to top of sewn unit made in step 2.

4. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 2" x 2" fabric 2 square. Place square, right sides together, at a corner of (1) 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" fabric 1 rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4" away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal fabric 2 corner triangle, as shown.

Add unit to right of sewn unit made in step 3 to complete (1) star quadrant. Quadrant should measure 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" raw edge to raw edge.

Quilt Center Assembly 1. Pieced rows. Refer to quilt center diagram for block placement and block orientation, sew together a total of (8) blocks. Make a total of (8) pieced rows. 2. Sew together pieced rows to complete quilt center. DOVE colorway:

Sew (2) 5 1/2" x 73" strips to the opposite sides of quilt center, followed by (2) 5 1/2" x 83" strips to the remaining opposite sides of quilt center to complete quilt top.

Quilting Instructions 1. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then quilt top to form quilt sandwich. Baste sandwich.

2. Quilt as desired.

3. Bind to finish quilt.
