30 PRIME BUTCHERS CATTLE THURSDAY Auctioneer: Jonathan Farrall 07796952948

A disappointing entry of cattle with only 30 forward, no big surprise given the time of year and tightening numbers everywhere but, with the level of trade enjoyed at Beeston every week, numbers are needed to sustain buyer support – can you help next week? Trade was very brisk once again, no real superstars on offer it has to be said but prime quality cattle very dear. Top call for heifers of 228p/kg for Mr Booth, narrowly pipping John Gate at 225p/kg. Some great steers on offer just over the 200p mark, selling to 218p/kg for G & E Mitchell and Murray to gross the day’s top headage of £1360. Bulls in short supply once again, more needed, John Gate selling to 208p/kg, GM Booth to 194p/kg, Friesians to 177p/kg for Carol Addison. Please bear in mind that bulls need that bit of cover at this time of year, although they’re scarce, DON’T RUSH THEM!

Do you have cattle to sell? Why not give us a try at Beeston, there are buyers for all classes, weights and grades.

• See them weighed

• See them sold

• Draw your cheque on the day

Remember we try and get you the best price rather than see what we can knock off; there has never been a more important time to support the auction system.

810 NEW SEASON BUTCHERS LAMBS THURSDAY 11:30AM

Auctioneer: Endaf Jones 07588130133

*Top Spot: 250.0p/kg 46.0kg Texel Crosses- K House Smithy Cottage Overall Average: 193.04/ppk

A good steady trade also a slight increase in the trade ,still quality lambs coming into the market consistent trade has established BEESTON strongly as the local Sheep Market! Once again, several new vendors found their way to us, all again delighted with the trade and service we provide. We do try to look after you every week……and pay you on the day! So come to BEESTON for friendly, professional service, a top trade….and take your money home with you. New Season Lambs to consistent trade throughout for all weights and grades, smart pen of texel lambs topping at 250.0p/kg for the best of K House , with all Premium quality from 225-250p/kg. Leaner, lighter lambs at 190ppk to 210ppk looked especially well-sold, better quality types all from 210-250ppk and once again the shortage of top-class, heavy lambs, as the strong trade encourages sales at lower weights, evident from the prices buyers were prepared to pay for 45-50kg. Many more New Season lambs could have been sold to similar trade. Lighter lambs where slightly less than last week due to a buyer missing but as you can see with the overall trade that beeston benefits in all ways with the trade weekley

Much larger entries of sheep are needed at Beeston every week, to ensure our consistent buying support, and therefore to continue providing a trade from which everyone benefits. Why not give us a go?! We would be delighted to visit you on farm for FREE, confidential advice on Lamb Marketing. To arrange, please call Gwyn Williams on 07785 350588, or Endaf Jones on 07588 130133. More ewes wanted

Next Breeding Ewes Sale is Monday 7th August 2017 At 12:30pm already over 170 ewes entered also 40 store lambs.

268 WEANLINGS

Auctioneer Jonathan Farrall 07796 952948 The monthly sale of weanlings soon comes round it has to be said! However, once again, 160 entered and yet over 260 forward which is fantastic but makes a mockery of having a catalogued sale – PLEASE ENTER YOUR CATTLE, IT’S IN YOUR INTERESTS. Trade wise, every bit as dear as last month, definitely a slight premium for cattle with more shape and potential, those that had been out at grass also finding one or two extra bids from buyers with aftermath grazing. Leading the trade and deservedly so, Mr Robert Littler who sold his Sim x steers to £705 and £695. Suckler bred Lim x sold to £695 and a super run of dairy Blues from Mr Paul Robinson peaked at £680. Heifers were a slightly better trade, Blues topped at £700 with Lim x from the same home to £695. Richard Pilkington sold a pair of very smart Devon heifers to £660 and Messrs Robinsons Blues topped at £600. Feeding bulls with shape sold readily, Blues out in front at £650 for Richard Hill, Allostock, Messrs Griffiths Cross Lanes also at £650 for a Lim x and any amount of good sorts over £500.

Important Notice

From next month, priority will be given to weanlings that are entered and in the catalogue (no later than the Monday prior to sale).

Anything NOT ENTERED will still be welcome but will be sold AFTER the catalogue.

Next Sale Friday 1st September

I would like to thank those who have taken the time to nominate me for this years Farmers Guardian Young Auctioneer of the Year. It is a great honour, and anyone who can spare the time to vote for me it would be greatly appreciated! 74 Continental Bulls More numbers forward and a blistering trade for all commodities! 49 Blue Bulls averaged £319, and plenty of bulls over £400. Hereford mediums were £240-£290 whilst the Angus mediums were £220-£260. A proper Cow making Angus to £282 for RC Hollinshead and £228 for GP Broadsmith. Herefords to £280 for Platt Bro’s, £250 for G Green & Son. Best quality would be £220+, mediums £170-£200. 164 STORE CATTLE Auctioneer: Jonathan Farrall 07796 952948

Another fantastic entry of cattle, selling on a first class trade throughout.

Forward steers and heifers a pleasure to sell and certainly no let up in demand as the trade for the end product remains strong. Angus steers from Messrs Fearnall topping the trade today at £1260, Mrs Lloyd came very close with Charolais x to £1240. Herefords featured strongly this week with steers from Phil Tushingham to £1190 and Mike Siddorn deserves a mention, his 15mo Lim steers sold to £1125 and great to see Huw Evans selling at Beeston, his 14mo Charolais x made £1055.

Heifers with shape and frame were in strong demand once again, Stephen Hopley selling Blues to £1180 and Sim x to £1095. Angus rang the bell for Keith Mather at £1050, even over 30m Monty heifers made £990.

Not just as many young bulls about today, the highlight being a Pedigree Hereford bull from Mrs S Houghton at £980, a decent cow and calf outfit made £1200 for Richard Sproston, more could have been handled.

Thank you all for your continued support and if you have stores to sell, bring them where the buyers are; EVERY WEEK AT BEESTON. Remember, when stock is wanted, the Auction is the “yard stick” that all the direct buyers use, be a price-maker NOT a price-taker!
