Students will be transported to the Eisenhower National Airport to welcome and meet veterans who traveled on the Kansas Honor Flight from Washington, D.C. on June 1st, 15th, and 29th. The other Fridays we will write letters to the veterans on the trips for their "roll call" in Washington, D.C. Students will need to pack a lunch on those days and a drink will be provided.

Hands on Minute Men! , Instructor: Mr. Dave McIntire

Week 4: 06/11-06/15, 9 am - 11 am, Grade(s): 6th - 8th $100.00 During the American Revolution, the Continental Army was built from scratch. They had to learn how to be an army and so will our modern day Minutemen. You will learn how to march and fight, aided by Baron von Steuben's Blue Book. You’ll learn how to wear real military uni-forms and set up a camp that would make Gen. Nathaniel Greene proud. You will serve as part of Gen. Washington's war council, discussing strategies and deciding where troops and supplies should go. Finally, you will explore the ways we commemorate and honor acts of service, both military and civic. The goal is immersion-our Minutemen won't be reading the book, they will be living it. This class is being offered in partnership with the Society of the Cincinnati and its American Revolution Institute.

Horseback Riding Camp, Instructor: WRA Instructors

Week 4: 06/11-06/15, 9 am - 12 pm, Grade(s): K - 12th $160.00 Our riding camps are geared towards riders of all skill levels and ages. The camps are organized based on riders’ ages. Riders will experience two activities each day, one riding and one educa-tional. Students ride at least one hour every day of camp. Riders age 5 - 7 have a slightly shorter ride time. Students will interact with their horse, groom and tack their horse for riding, un-tack after riding, feed and care for their horse and much more! All campers must have a 2017 WRA signed release form prior to engaging in animal and camp activities. Tall socks, closed-toe shoes or boots, refillable water bottles, sack lunch or snack, sunscreen and bug spray are all also re-quired. Transportation to and from Independent Lower School will be provided.
