Parents’ Evening
Due to staff commitments and a new staff appointment on the horizon we thought it
might be beneficial to change our dates for Parents’ Evening. It would be lovely for the new member of staff to be able to meet the parents of her keyworker group. We will let
you know as soon as we have appointed someone and finalised the dates for this to be
happening. Thank you very much for your support and
understanding!

boxes and would kindly appreciate any you may have spare.
Many thanks for your kind donations for both rooms, it is greatly appreciated!
This Last Week and What’s to Come….! Our Saplings have been focussing on the story of “The Three Little Pigs” and the children
have enjoyed building houses using straw, sticks and bricks which was set up in the tuff tray.
Today they have been to visit the local library to have a tour around the library and to listen to stories celebrating “World Book Day”. Seedlings and Saplings dressed up on Thursday
as a favourite book character! The staff joined in with all the fun too! Our Seedlings have chosen 5 reading books to read each day throughout the week. They
love listening to stories and have sat on the carpet extremely well! We are continuing looking at “Letter of the week” and if your child brings in an object to
represent this they will share this with their friends at circle time. A sticker will be given to the children for doing this! Next weeks letter is “I/i”. Thank you for working in
partnership with us!
Recruitment
We are pleased to share that we have appointed Victoria Hewerdine who has
worked with us previously. She won’t be taking up a full-time post but will be on
hand to support when we need her. She has had experience in a range of Early
Years settings and brings new skills to the team with great interest and skills in yoga,
music and art. We look forward to welcoming Victoria to the team as we
continue to find the best member of staff to work with us on a permanent basis.

World Book Day 2020
We enjoyed a wonderful day yesterday for World Book Day and everyone looked fabulous in their book character costumes. Thank you for your time, efforts and support in bringing this all together. We were also visited by
author Stuart Reid who had the children captivated in a very (disgusting) entertaining assembly. He then visited every class doing some work with all the children. We gave children the opportunity to buy books from Stuart and
we are able to still offer his books for sale until Tuesday. Books are £7, if you would like one then just send the money in an envelope with your child’s name on and give it to your child’s class teacher.
Old Photographs—School’s upcoming 50th Anniversary Next year is the school’s 50th Anniversary and we are currently planning a few events in which to celebrate this. One thing we’d like to do is collect old photographs of the school or anything linked to the school—trips you’ve been on with school, photos within school, photos of yourself or others wearing the school uniform, past teachers and anything that represents school. If you could bring these to the office then we can photocopy them straight away or if you’re happy to leave them then we can put these in an envelope for you with your name on for safe keeping and return them to you in the same condition that we received them. If you can provide any information about the photos then this would be even better. Thank you in advance of your help. Also if you believe there’s any other ways that you can help with our anniversary celebrations then we’d welcome your thoughts and contributions.

Can you spare 10 minutes in school after dropping your child off?
We are looking for parents or family members who drop their children off and would be willing to come into school for 10 minutes in the mornings to listen to children read that sometimes don’t get the opportunity to do
so. It wouldn’t be in your child's class but if you contact Mrs Allen then she will coordinate this. Her email address is [email protected]. If you let her know which class your child/children are in and which days you’d be
available then that would be wonderful. Your help will enable all children to have the opportunity to read with someone daily. Many thanks in anticipation of your support.
After School Club—Late Collection Penalty
Our parents are very good and conscientious at picking children up on time but please be aware that if children are collected after the 6pm deadline (5:45pm for Beechbuds) then we will have to charge you a £10 penalty. We do everything we can to work with parents and make your life easier including flexible hours and competitive costs in our pre-school and an easy drop in/cancellation system in our breakfast
and after school club. We have also introduced an early collection price to save you money. However, the staff are paid until 6pm so to collect the children later means that staff must claim additional hours of pay and we must always have 2 staff on at a minimum—even for just one child. Fortunately, this is not a problem but I wanted to make you aware in case this unfortunate
situation occurs.
Non-Uniform Day—27th March—Easter Eggs Please Just some advance notice that Friday, 27th March will be our next non-uniform day. For this day we
are asking if you’d be able to send in an Easter Egg per family. If this is not possible then we ask for the voluntary donation of £1. Anything we collect and raise for our Non-Uniform Days goes straight
back into the children’s education and school experience. Many thanks for your support.
Old Camera Anyone?
One of the classes is asking if anyone has an old camera that they can use as a stimulus to an upcoming topic. It doesn’t have to work and it will be returned in the same condition that we receive it. If you are able to help, please
drop it in at the school office—many thanks in advance for your help.
Breakfast and After School Club Changes—Drop off and Collection
Please note that we are now separating Beechbuds children from school children in our Breakfast and After School Clubs. Whilst there have been advantages for keeping them
together we believe it is in the interests of all of the children to give them their own space as the children can access games, play and take part in activities at their own level. We therefore ask parents to drop their school children off in the hall and their Beechbuds
children in the Seedlings room—all entering through the main school door. For after school club, Beechbuds parents are asked to collect the children from the Saplings door (old Beechbuds room) and their school children from the front school door. On the limited
occasions where we can’t use the hall or choose to use other areas of school to maximise their enjoyment, there will be signage on the front door to let you know where they are.
With the new changes, if you are keen to bring your child to our breakfast club, just enquire in school in person or by phone (01257 451114).
We apologise for the changes but we are always striving to make the experience better for
the children so that their extended time with us is enjoyable.
