Activity Two: Please look at the image of the octopus and answer the questions below in full sentences.

1. How did the octopus get here? 2. Why is it wearing a hat? 3. Is it speaking your language? Can

you understand what it is saying? 4. Where is the octopus trying to get

to? Remember to carry on reading every day, as we would do in school!

EnglishThis week we will focus on improving our vocabulary and spelling. We are going to practise spelling certain words and begin using them in our own creative writing. occasionally specular completely heart superhuman accidently naughty miniature promise believe Activity One: Let’s create our own dictionary which includes our 10 new words. Some of these words might be new, so please check in a dictionary for the definitions but if you already know what the word means don’t search for it and create your own definition. Remember dictionaries are written in alphabetical order, can you do that?

Activity Two: Let’s practise the spellings of the new vocabulary. Please play spelling bingo with a partner. Each choose six of the words we are looking at this week. Then take it in turns to guess what your partner has chosen. You get one point for every word you guess correctly and another point for spelling it correctly. Keep a tally of the scores and tell me who wins!!

Activity Three: Can you now create an adventure story using the spellings we have focused on? Include the new vocabulary will boost your writing and make it extra exciting to read.

You could use one of these story starters to get you going or you could start it yourself.

This week let’s focus on shape, particularly the different types of lines. We need to learn the technical names and be able to identify them in a range of contexts.

Activity One: Can you create a poster which explains what each type of lines are. We are learning about perpendicular and parallel lines for the first time so please look at this video of a teacher explaining these lines for some support. https://youtu.be/dSE2lTU1sAc

Activity Two: Can you answer these three reasoning questions. 1. True or False?

Perpendicular lines have to touch – prove it. 2. True or false?

Parallel lines never touch- prove it. 3. Odd one out.

Explain which of these images are different to the others. How many different ways can you answer this question?

Challenge XCan you create your own piece of art work like the one below and include all types of lines. Count how many sets of each line and challenge someone at home to try and find them all.

Victory in Europe (VE) Day took place on 8th May 1945. It marked the end of the Second World War in Europe.VE Day was commemorated in many ways, including street parties, picnics and the production of lots of special memorabilia.

Challenge 1: Can you design a red, white and blue picnic to celebrate VE Day.

- What type of food would you eat? Could it include: Jam sandwiches, blueberry muffins or vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce. Can you include a menu in your plan?

- What will your area look like? What pattern will be on the picnic blanket? Will you have bunting hanging from the trees? Think about your design and make sure it is bright and eye-catching.

Challenge X: Could you now create invitations to your picnic, remember to include a time, place and a date.
