Trainee Horticultural Technicians

Each year vacancies under the Trainee Technician scheme are available for people wishing to pursue a career in horticulture by gaining practical experience. Based within the 40-acre Botanic Garden, the trainees are able to learn and perform the wide range of horticultural skills that are required to maintain a diverse collection of over 8,000 plants, which is of international importance. The scheme is demanding and is intended for those wishing to gain experience in practical horticulture, collection management and plantsmanship.

Bedfordia Farms Harvest Vacancies
Beginning July to mid-late September Bedfordia Farms is located in North Bedfordshire and operates a 2,000ha arable farming unit alongside a
commercial Grainstore storing 27,000mt of cereals and oilseed rape. 12,000 tonnes of this capacity is utilised by Bedfordia Farms and 15,000 tonnes are let to grain merchants- Wellgrain. The main store is based at Milton House Farm and is strategically well located close to a number of flour mills.
We are seeking a number of harvest assistants to work alongside the Grain Services team from the beginning of July to late September.
Grain plant assistant
Assisting in the day to day operation of the plant, which is capable of in-taking wheat at 300 tonnes per hour (tph) and out-loading at 160 tph. The plant has a new dryer with the facilities to dry at 100 tph. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the storage and monitoring of combinable crops. Mechanically minded and experience of operating a tele-handler and other general farm equipment preferable.
Laboratory assistants
Our TASCC accredited grain testing laboratory has facilities to analyse all of the major on-farm characteristics of wheat, barley, rape and beans, enabling us to match quality to end user requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience of grain quality testing and specifications using modern pieces of equipment.
Must be flexible to work long hours when needed; have the ability to learn and replicate simple processes and to work in a logical and methodical manner. Must work well as part of a small team and have good communication skills.

The Special Constabulary plays an important
role in providing additional officers at local events, such as
peak times on Friday and Saturday nights. People join the
Special Constabulary for many different reasons, many wanting
to give something back to the community.
Special Constables are expected to carry out the same duties
as their regular Police colleagues. They are issued with the
same uniform and equipment and are given full Police training.
You are required to volunteer for a minimum of 16 hours
per month. The initial training is carried out on Tuesday
