beds. We make a great night’s sleep.

A BED WITH YOUR NAME ON ITThere’s no such thing as a standard person, which is why at Harrison,

there’s no such thing as a standard bed. Outside and in, it’s designed around you, right down to the last stitch. Using natural materials, it’s tailored to the size

and firmness that suits you, and upholstered to your taste.

It’s more than just a bed, it’s a completely bespoke night’s sleep.

WE GROW BEDSYour bed doesn’t start out life in a factory, but on a farm.

A 300 acre farm in North Yorkshire to be precise. Here we rear sheep for their wool and produce the natural fibres that go into our

fillings. Fibres like flax that is three times stronger than cotton, with unique properties that help keep you cool and fresh.

This is also where we grow our hemp, a carbon-neutral fibre that’s carefully nurtured without the use of pesticides.

We don’t do this because it’s easier. (It takes us a year to grow the ingredients for one mattress.) We do it because we believe in

sustainable manufacturing. And because, with over 100 years of experience, we’ve learned that if you’re going to make a

beautiful bed, you’ve got to do it yourself.

C O M F O R T F R O M N A T U R E

A good night’s sleep has to start out right. For us that means sourcing environmentally friendly materials.

This is why we grow hemp and flax on our farm, and source other more exotic fibres very carefully to ensure their quality. Finally they are all blended

by us at our factory to ensure our beds are as comfortable and luxurious as they can be.

WE USE ZERO PESTICIDES TO GROW OUR HEMP AND FLAX. INSTEAD THESE FIBRES ARE GROWN THE WAY WE BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE: NATURALLY. THIS GREATLY LESSENS THE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT BY REDUCING

CO2 EMISSIONS, WHICH HELPS US AND YOU REST EASIER.

COTTON & EGYPTIAN COTTON

Soft and absorbent, cotton has strong wicking properties. Egyptian cotton is softer and

longer in length and its superfine strands are perfect for keeping

you cool and dry.

FLAX

KAPOK VISCOSE

HEMPFlax is the fibre used to make linen. Three times stronger than cotton, it makes for a light and absorbent material that creates breathable, organic fillings and upholstery.

It adds to the overall level of comfort of the bed and helps to improve

moisture management.

Otherwise known as 'tree silk' this light and lustrous fibre is obtained

from the seed pods of the Kapok tree. Being remarkably strong and super

soft makes it an ideal luxury mattress filling. Kapok helps to regulate your

body temperature, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Often thought of as a man-made fibre, viscose is a cellulose derived from the wood pulp of eucalyptus, beech and pine trees. Viscose is a versatile and

lightweight fibre that blends well with other natural fibres. Being breathable

and highly absorbent, helping you have a fresh night’s sleep.

Grown completely naturally and without pesticides, the hemp plant

absorbs carbon dioxide and in this way helps reverse climate change. Blended

with other organic fibres it is strong and durable. But the real beauty is that it’s

absorbent and naturally resistant to mildew, keeping our beds

fresh and hygienic.

MOHAIRTHE FINEST OF TEXTURES

Softer and smoother than wool, mohair's fine silky texture gives it a

more luxurious feel and is used in the warm side filling layers of the mattress.

Its strong, light and soft fibres share the beneficial properties of wool but

with added sumptuousness.

CASHMERESOFTER AND STRONGER

The double coat of the cashmere goat is both soft and smooth, but also highly resilient. While the outer layer is durable, the fine, soft underdown is

lighter and more insulating than other wools.

SILKLUXURY MEETS STRENGTH

Silk is a luxurious protein fibre found in our very best beds. Produced by the mulberry silkworm, it’s also the

strongest of the natural fibres. Silk has natural moisture absorbing qualities, making it perfect for regulating body

temperature.

SHEEP’S WOOLHOME-GROWN SOFTNESS

Soft, springy and naturally supportive. Wool keeps you warm and dry and helps regulate body temperature. It’s also anti-bacterial and, as it’s

inherently fire-retardant, there’s no need to use chemicals in any of the

fillings. We raise our own sheep, making it more sustainable.

ALPACANATURALLY HYPOALLERGENIC

Known for its softness, alpaca wool is inherently softer and warmer than sheep’s wool. This luxuriously soft yet durable fibre has the luster of silk and

due to containing no lanolin is naturally hypoallergenic, with excellent moisture

wicking properties.

LORD OF THE MANORMeet Harrison. He is just one of the prize sheep you’ll find

at our farm. Reared on the lush grass of our farm, he obliges us with the luxurious wool that goes into all of our beds.

Wool, king of all fibres, is inherently fire retardant, ensuring no chemicals are used in the fillings. It also naturally regulates

body temperature, keeping you comfortable throughout the year. We love natural fibres, not only are they more sustainable,

but they also have a number of unique properties unlike any manmade fibre. Ensure your bed is fit for a king and speak to

In line with our ethos to be the world’s most vertically integrated bed manufacturer, we not only grow our own natural fillings and draw

our own wire, we also weave our own mattress ticking.

Here at our factory we combine traditional methods with state-of-the-art weaving looms to create naturally

breathable fabrics for the sleeping surface.

Previously manufacturers have added chemicals to the surface of fabrics making them fire retardant. Our high quality woven fabric has a ChemFRee finish. Using materials that boast inherently fire retardant properties. The fabric is then steamed finished, meaning

no other chemical treatments are required. An innovative but natural finish to the perfect night’s sleep.

Aligned with our commitment to British Manufacturing, Harrison Spinks have invested £1.8 million in wire drawing

facilities on the British Steel site in Scunthorpe. Drawing ultra-fine high quality wire that is used in the manufacture of world leading Harrison pocket springs.

Increasing our commitment to becoming world leaders in sustainable mattress manufacturing, creating a closed-loop

production process as all the steel waste is recycled.

A unique system with a small spring sitting inside a larger one, offering two levels of firmness and adding to the

life and performance of your mattress. Its two-stage action means the outer spring offers a high degree of comfort,

Airflow does exactly what its name suggests, channelling air through the mattress fillings and directing it to the surface.

This, along with special air vents, helps the mattress to breathe, keeping the fibres fresh and dry whatever the season.

The HD is a world first. Made with our lightweight titanium alloy, these springs are highly flexible, working completely independently

of each other.

The three-dimensional support means they can adapt to your body's contours to relieve pressure and give greater comfort and lumbar support. They are also good for the mattress itself as they ensure

In tailor-making a Harrison bed, our most valuable tools are our hands. But these are not just any hands. They belong to craftsmen like Andy Davis. In one week Andy will stitch our

unique beds using a 16-inch needle and a lot of patience. After doing this for over 25 years he’s got it down to a fine art.

An art that a machine will never be able to master.

HISTORY IN THE MAKINGAt Harrison we’ve been making beds since 1889. In that time we

have remained a family business, although these days there are over 600 people working with us. From the engineers who make our award-winning springs, to the farmers who rear our prize sheep.

The way we make beds today may be different, but our aim is still the same: to create a tailored sleeping experience that is second

to none. You see, when it comes to delivering the perfect night’s sleep, we never rest.

At Harrison we understand that your bed will go through a lot during its life. It’s for that reason we wanted to provide you with a solution to keep it in pristine condition. Introducing Aqua Clean. Exclusively to Harrison, Aqua Clean provides a protective layer

enabling you to simply wipe away any marks or stains using a few droplets of water.

Using a damp cloth you can remove accidental marks from your headboard and divan base. Harrison fabrics that have been treated with Aqua Clean allow you to clean away ink, shoe polish, coffee

and even scuff marks.

In line with our ethical approach to bed manufacturing all the wood used in our divan bases and headboards comes from FSC-accredited forests. Because sustainability is at the heart of Harrison Spinks, the company own their own responsibly managed forest in Yorkshire, where the timber harvested and felled goes into the construction of the luxury divan bases. By sourcing wood locally we are able to lower our carbon footprint.

We were already proud of our work, but when it was recognised by HM Queen Elizabeth II, we were delighted. To receive the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in Innovation and Sustainable Development in 2013 and a further two in 2018 for Enterprise in International

Harrison Spinks is a fifth-generation family owned and run business dating back to 1840 and is one of Great Britain’s most established and innovative bed makers. It is the most vertically integrated bed

manufacturer in the world, from drawing its own wire and manufacturing patented pocket springs, to weaving ChemFRee fabric for its mattresses

and growing natural fillings on its own 300-acre farm in Yorkshire.

In 2018 Harrison Spinks was proudly awarded two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in Innovation and International Trade. This was the second time the company received two Queens Awards in one year, having

previously received the Enterprise in Sustainable Development and Innovation awards in 2013.
