A Prayer during Lent

Father, teach me to listendeeply to what is happeningwithin me and to discernwhat are you saying throughmy hopes and dreams, fearsand failures, joy andsadness. Give me awarenessof what is happening aroundme so that I can love youmore, love others to the bestof my ability, and lovemyself as you love me.Amen.

The Lord tells us not only tocarry out works of charity,to pray, and to fast, but alsoto do these withoutpretense, duplicity, andhypocrisy.

For several years now, the Mura people of Brazil’sAmazonas state have sought to assert their claim totheir ancestral lands. Development &Peace’s partner, the Indigenous Missionary Council, helps them advocate for, defend and publicize theircause more effectively. Watch Mura’s testimony atwww.devp.org/campaign/mura.
