Learning ecologies

Valuing lifewide learning and

developing lifelong habits

We are at the centre of our learning

“A learning ecology is defined as the set of contexts found in physical or virtual spaces that provide opportunities for learning.

Each context is comprised of a unique configuration of activities, material resources, relationships, and the interactions that emerge from them.”

Barron (2006, p.195)

“An environment that fosters and supports the formation of communities and networks. If ecologies are the spaces of learning, then networks are the structures of learning. Networks do not occur in a vacuum.Knowledge is networked and distributed, and the act of learning is the creation and navigation of networks.”

Siemens 2008
