Reflective Session

What thoughts or beliefs might be holding me back from achieving my full potential (in my chosen balance wheel areas)?

The Affirmation

Process

Page 20: Becoming Extraordinary: Changing Beliefs to Improve Performance Joseph T. Pillittere, MSOM Instructor/Consultant August 6, 2015.

11 Guidelines

• Personal: are written with the word “I” in them. The inner change will happen because of something YOU do.

• Positive: always describe what you want to move toward, not away from. What would it look like if it were fixed?

• Present Tense: affirmations are written as though they are happening right now. Use your imagination (I X V = R).

• Indicate Achievement: Avoid negative words (can, will, should) to give your subconscious a clear picture of the end result.

Guidelines (Cont.)

• No Competition: do not compare your self to others, it is ineffective. Your growth is based on yourself.

• Action Words: use terms that describe and trigger action, pictures.

• Emotion Words: the more positive emotion you feel when picturing your accomplished goal, the faster your affirmation will work for you.

• Accuracy: be as specific as possible otherwise it will give you too many escape routes.

Guidelines (Cont.)

• Balance: set goals and write affirmations in all areas of your life.

• Realistic: you need to be able to see it, visualize it and imagine it.

• Confidential: share your affirmations only with those you are certain will support you.
