Dear Parents and Students, It is hard to believe that summer is drawing to a close and we are getting ready to begin another school year. I hope that your summer was relaxing and provided you with an opportunity to spend time with family and loved ones. As a faculty and staff, we have been busy this summer preparing for another exciting school year. Thanks to the custodial staff, the building has been thoroughly cleaned and the floors are brightly shinning. Our Beck teachers have also been busy this summer with several different endeavors including writing curriculum for the school district, participating in Science PLUS, presenting at the Upstate Technology Conference, and teaching abroad. The teachers are excited to return to the classroom with new knowledge and rich experiences that will continue to enhance our educational environment. This coming year, we will continue to focus on providing a world class education in a safe and secure environment. This will be accomplished through our continued commitment to a rigorous curriculum, a focus on international studies and real-life application, community service and creating a student focused learning environment. We know that as the first day of school approaches your child may be experiencing excitement and anxiety as he/she prepares for the transition to middle school. To help ease fears, Beck faculty and staff will be holding our annual 6th grade orientation on August 10th from 8:30-1:00. KNIGHT S.H.I.F.T is a wonderful opportunity for 6th grade students and their parents to learn all the ins and outs of middle school before the year begins. Stop by our school website for more information and to register for this exciting event. As the summer winds to a close, I am excited to welcome students and teachers back for another fun and productive school year. I look forward to the many new accomplishments that our students and teachers will achieve in the upcoming year. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to lead a school that has a proven track record of success, a committed and caring staff, engaged and enlightened students, and supportive parents and stakeholders. Without hesitation I can confidently say that Beck Academy truly is a very special school. If you are new to Beck let me take a few minutes to tell you about some of the ways to stay involved and connected. You can follow us on Facebook by searching for Beck Academy. In addition, our PTSA is a strong and vital part of our school and provides numerous opportunities for parents to be involved. You can find out more information by clicking on the PTSA link on our website. Please refer to the PTSA calendar for important dates and times for opening of school events. Finally, make staying connected easy by downloading our school app to your smart phone. I hope you enjoy the remainder of your summer and I look forward to seeing you in August.
