Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
My God Is an Awesome God!
The use of the language of judge,
and justice found in this week’s
gospel (Lk 18:1-8) reminds us of the fi-
nal judgment Jesus renders at the
end of time. To prepare for this second
coming we allow ourselves, in a way to al-
leviate any fears and disturbances we
might have and be persistent in our pray-
er. Through this spiritual exercise of pray-
er and contemplation, we will realize how
our faith can slowly grow into a personal
relationship with God.
Last week, a parishioner out of the blue
text me regarding an inspired sharing she
got from her conversation with her daugh-
ter, how they miss the simple meditative
song during mass that somehow help
them encounter the personal touch of God.
The rich tradition of our Mass has various
opportunities to help us connect the ritu-
als, common prayers, readings and homi-
lies, and songs to our daily lives.
Our disposition and self-
preparation maybe an important
factor in this exercise, but God
speaks to us in many ways, in
songs, in the literature of the
church, in our encounter with peo-
ple, but above all by our consistent
prayer both personal and commu-
nal services.
Should we limit our prayers into words
and recitations alone?
Let us allow ourselves to be transformed
and allow God to save us.
How does prayer help you deepen your
relationship with God?
Maybe we can begin by sharing to others
the following reflections:
I pray always because…?
My prayer deepens my relationship with
God when I…with God?
Gospel Medita-
tion For Your Day
Render a just decision for me
against my adversary.”
Today’s Gospel features a persistent
widow who ekes out justice from a
notoriously cold-hearted judge. Why
does she win the day? “Because the
widow keeps bothering me.” Jesus’ rec-
ommendation to the disciples is to be
persistent in prayer, because surely
God the Father is far more attuned to
their needs than this judge. If only it
were that easy, right? We’ve all expe-
rienced the unanswered prayer, the
silence after our cries. When this con-
tinues, sometimes it can be difficult
to have faith in God or believe He
answers prayers. It can be easy to
lapse into a sense of His distance. We
want Him to do something “fair,”
which — in our limited view — typi-
cally means that something works
out in our favor.
There are, of course, many legitimate
cries for justice. We live in a fallen
world filled with flawed human be-
ings. We hurt each
other, sometimes
grievously, and our
efforts to remake the
world in our image
can result in unjust,
inhumane systems.
Faced with the prob-
lem of evil, we may
wonder how God
will “secure the rights
of his chosen ones.”
Sometimes, He may
well seem “slow to
answer them.”
All Are Welcome Here If you are alienated
or upset, we
welcome you lovingly. If you
are in need of forgiveness, Jesus
forgives you completely—with
unconditional love. If you have
been hurt by the Church, we are
truly sorry. If you are angry,
Jesus offers you peace. If life has
become burdensome, we are
here to support you. We are
happy you are here and want
you to stay. We would like to
share our lives with you. Come
join us each week so we can
worship God together.

WELCOME
In the face of these very real questions,
it’s important to recall the words of the
prophet Isaiah, that God’s thoughts “are
not [our] thoughts.” His ways are not our
ways. God respects the freedom He has
given us. When we see what free will
has wrought, perhaps we question
God’s better judgment! Yet somehow,
we hear that He mysteriously works all
things for our good. No matter what
situation we find ourselves in, we are
always free to love. We are invited to be
persistent in our prayer, to continue
bringing our concerns before God in
trusting surrender. We are invited to
love well in the circumstances we find
ourselves in, to be a light in the dark-
ness. No matter when — or if — our
prayers are answered the way we
would like, we are nonetheless invited

Stewardship Prayer “Generous and loving God, you call us
to be disciples of your Son Jesus and
good stewards of your many gifts.
Open our minds and hearts to a greater
awareness and deeper appreciation of
your countless blessings. Transform us
through the power of your Spirit to
nurture a stewardship way of life
marked by faith-filled prayer, service to
our neighbor, and generous sharing.
Teach us to be faithful servants of your
gifts. With Mary’s help, may we return
ten-fold the gifts entrusted to us. We
pray this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.” Bishop Robert Morneau
Blessing Others "One man gives freely, yet gains even
more; another withholds unduly, but
comes to poverty. A generous man will
prosper; he who refreshes others will him-
self be refreshed." Proverbs 11:24-25
One of the reasons God entrusts mon-
ey to us is to bless other Christians by
meeting their needs. God uses the
transfer of money within the Body of
Christ to build unity among Christians.
If our focus is on accumulation, we will
not look for opportunities to be God's
vessels of financial blessing to others.
Ask the Lord if you have an open hand
when it comes to finances.

Faith Formation In order to better serve and accommo-
date the many families of our diverse
parish, several new programs were add-
ed to Family Faith Formation (formally
known as Religious Education, CCD,
Catechism, etc). These programs took
into consideration feedback received via
individual parents as well as the Next
Generation Parish Survey that was con-
ducted late last Fall and consultation
with Father David. The goal of these new
and varying programs was to bring Faith
Formation from individual child(ren)
based catechesis to family based catech-
esis. The various programs hopefully
address the busy lifestyles that today's
families have in addition to meeting fam-
ilies where they are at in their own per-
sonal faith journeys. Each of these new
programs will be featured in the bulletin
over the next several weeks. Please enjoy
learning about these many new ways in

Fathers and Mothers Praying (Padres Y Madres Orantes)
Padres Y Madres Orantes or Fathers
and Mothers Praying has been a
longstanding ministry of All Souls
Church celebrating their seventh anni-
versary just recently. This ministry has
experienced immense growth in a very
short time and is a new addition to
Family Faith Formation. They are an-
swered prayers to accompany the Span-
ish families of our community on their
faith journey to grow closer in Christ.
PyMO is very passionate about embrac-
ing ALL to their ministry. Meeting the
first Saturday of the month (except in
November when it is the 2nd Saturday),
the group gathers for Eucharistic Ado-
ration and prayers of reparation for the
salvation of their children, unity within
families, for the Pope and the Church's
hierarchy and particularly for the
priests of our parish. PyMO strives to
help children develop as people of faith
through family based catechesis with
prayer, formal faith formation classes,
retreats and social events. This ministry
has been a blessing to All Souls Catholic
Church by bringing the grace and peace
of God to the homes of those who par-
ticipate. Thank you Padres y Madres
Orantes for all you do in making All
Souls the unique parish community that
we are growing towards. God bless.
Saint Pope John Paul II (The Great)
P ope Saint John
Paul II was a titan.
He was all
things—a highly educated
European intellectual, a
philosophy professor with
two Doctorates, a mystic
of intense spirituality, a
working bishop of a large
and dynamic Archdiocese
behind the iron curtain, a
Cardinal whose counsel
was valued by the Pope,
an active contributor at
the Second Vatican Coun-
cil, a polyglot, and a world
traveler. Adding to this
embarrassment of riches,
he was an athlete and out-
doorsman, had charisma,
an open personality, a
manly presence, vast cir-
cles of lay friends, and
was just 58 years old when
elected. Never had a con-
clave of Cardinals made a
bolder, wiser choice.
He had the piety of a humble Mexican peasant and the sophis-
tication of a German professor. An assassin’s bullet almost
killed him on May 13, 1981, but he survived, barely. In April
2005 this giant, this father to the world, died as tens of thou-
sands gathered in prayerful vigil outside his window. He was
canonized in 2014 and is buried in Saint Peter’s Basilica.
Saint Pope John Paul II, you laid your superabundant gifts on God’s
altar as a teen, and God used them to the fullest extent until your
death. Help all Christians to put their talents at God’s service to help
lead others to Christ and to His Church.
Sacraments The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Confessions are heard each week on Saturday at the Church
(SR #46) from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm.
The Sacrament of Baptism
Call the parish office to learn the necessary requirements
and make an appointment to have your child baptized.
The Sacrament of Marriage
Getting married? Congratulations! The process of being
married in the Catholic Church could take between 6
months to a year to complete. Please contact the parish office
as soon as possible after your engagement if you would like
to be married at All Souls Catholic Church.
Anointing of the Sick
Please call the parish office. The Rite of Anointing tells us
there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death
to receive the Sacrament. Did you know that the Sacrament
may be repeated if the person becomes sick again? A person
should be anointed before surgery when a dangerous illness
is the reason for the intervention.
Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick and Homebound
If you are unable to attend Mass, please call the parish office
so we may assist you in having a visit from one of our
ministers or one of our priests.
Catholic Funeral and Burial
Please call the parish office or have the funeral home
director contact us to arrange the Funeral Mass and for more
information about burial at All Souls Catholic Cemetery.
And Jesus Said... "A widow in that town used to come to him and say,
'Render a just decision for me against my adversary.' For a
long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he
thought, 'because this widow keeps bothering me I shall de-
liver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike
me.'" - Lk 18:3-5
